5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album from exciting metal band 6 Mar 2012
By Willz
Format:Audio CD
The album starts with the huge thunderous sound of Cry of our Nation before moving on to the huge chorused single Betray My Heart. Symphonic, Thrash, Power, there is a blend of metal here all with the amazing vocals of Emily Alice Ovenden. And the finest track - Long Live the King - kicking in with an anthrax style riff before moving to more classic metal styles! If you're looking to experience something exciting I fully recommend this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Female Fronted Metal from the UK! 4 Mar 2012
By DaBear
Format:Audio CD
Firstly I can't give this album less than 5 stars for a few reasons.

A) This is one of the most original and exciting albums I've heard in some time. This is a unique experience.
B) It's a big advance musically over their original release Beneath the Veiled embrace, which I should add was a very solid début.
C) There is not a bad song on here, no filler at all, something you can't say often these days. All the songs are beautifully crafted and expertly executed.

Emily's vocals soar over the music, she sings with emotion and power. The music here is heavier than their début, in places very heavy indeed, there are some very catchy tunes on here also (see Betray My Heart - the first single).

Melodic, Symphonic, Gothic, Fast, Hard and Heavy.

This band deserves to be huge. In Europe bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica etc.. are massive, we now have a female fronted metal band that deserves to be massive here in the UK.

Buy this album and enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strength to strength 23 April 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have both albums by Pythia and the EP. The first album Beneath The Veiled Embrace was a great album very different to what I normally listen to. Excellent vocals very classical/medieval combined with heavy bordering on thrash metal music.

The Serpents Curse is the next stage, very polished, perhaps slightly less heavy. But all in all a brilliant album. The metal/classical/medieval combinations work so well.

I live next door to the lead guitarist (Tim Neale) a very nice guy and an excellent musician. In fact the whole band vocally and musically are superb and unique. No I am not biased I just know what I like and Pythia do it for me. Keep up the good work guys.
