More than postures! 13 Feb 2012
Format:Hardcover
The book 'ten minute yoga' is not suitable for anyone looking to buy their first yoga book. This book would be for someone who has been going to classes for a couple of years and wants to build up a home practice that covers all area of yoga not just the physical asanas [postures] that are often the main feature of many yoga books. The book creates on each double page a balanced program of activities that cover the key areas of yoga work. The general plan on each left page is a physical practice 1] Becoming Aware 2] Limbering 3]One posture and one counter posture [moving the body in the opposite direction 4] Relaxation. The general plan on most right pages is 1] Becoming aware 2] Pranayama [Breathing work] with say a bandha 3] Meditation 4] Brief Relaxation.
I have never followed the exact plans as given but have found the structure of work very helpful to use as a guide to putting together work that suits me.
As I said at the beginning this is not a book for a beginner but it does offer much more than many yoga books and shows the way to put together a complete balanced yoga practice.
