Firstly, Peter Tyson Online are brilliant, ordered Tuesday evening delivered Thursday. I bought this to replace an FM/AM tuner that still works but we wanted the variety of stations the DAB offered.
The DAB Tuner is great for the money, but with FM on the way out why do they have 30 memory presets for it, bit disappointing that there are only 10 memory presets for DAB, but it did find more DAB stations than the portable we have.
The unit also has a Sleep Timer but what you don't find out till you have bought the tuner is that this only works if you have TEAC's A-R650 Amplifier!
The box has lots of cables in to start you listening straight away, I had already pre-empted getting a DAB tuner and had a DAB and an FM Aerials fitted and wired in. The DAB Aerial connector is the screw type end and the FM the normal coax type; sorry don't have the type letters to hand.
Even comes with batteries for the remote control.
Lastly you cannot switch the unit off, it has a 'Stand-by' button, now we're always told that that still drains electricity, so a bit disappointing again.
In Summary, Presets: 30 for AM, 30 for FM, 10 for DAB
To use Sleep Mode you need the TEAC Amp.
If you want to switch off completely you need to do it at the plug.

I bought this primarily as it was the most reasonably priced DAB tuner I could find on the market. It received only two ro three star rating from what hifi but as an upgrade from my previous DAB adaptor the sound quality blew me away and in that respect I am quite satisfied with the unit. However the tuning aspect is a bit dodgy as it only stores 10 preset DAB stations (and the process for setting up those 10 is I feel unnecessarily intricate) and when I select preset 10 it almost always selects preset 9 requiring a repress of preset 10 (which involves pressing 1 and then 0) after which the correct station is found. Also, once the unit locked up completely during a selection process necessitating a complete power off (from the mains) to reset the unit. It has not done that again though. Overall, I'd recommend this if you're looking for a reasonably priced DAB tuner - quite why similar equipment is so expensive baffles me, and I'm not prepared to pay 300+ pounds just to listen to the radio.....

Living in Cornwall in an area that DAB and BBC websites indicated that we would get no signal. Following a trial with a small DAB portable to test reception, (acceptable), went ahead and ordered this. Using the supplied 'T Ariel' unit managed a workable 1/3 signal with some occasional distortion. Then acquired appropriate plug to enable connection to redundant analogue TV loft ariel and now have consistent 3/4 signal strength with excellent sound quality and reception. Being new to DAB radio, I am still in awe of the choice, diversity, and quality of this new world of radio stations.
Radio itself is well thought out, with easy to use programming, and clear displays. Integration with separates system took minutes with no problems with compatability. Buy one !!

Why spend more when this tuner does the job
I am a big fan of DAB and already own 2 Sony CMTFX micro HiFi with DAB but was missing DAB in my ageing separates console. The TEAC T-R650DAB does exactly what it claims to do. Read more
