5.0 out of 5 stars Why spend more? 20 Dec 2011
Very easy to set up and use with clear and concise instructions if you need them.
It will be hard to match the sound quality from this iPod dock without spending a lot more money, the equaliser option lets you tune the sound to suit the music of your choice and with 2 x 50W there is ample volume for most household users.
Not only is there a built in CD player & radio as well as the iPod dock but you can also play tracks from suitably formatted USB sticks (Fat 32 or 16 but not NTFS)there is also a pair of phono plugs that will accept an AUX input, this will allow use with some of those MP3 players that don't have the iPod connector, you will need a phono to jack lead to do this though.
There is also an eco standby mode that keeps the mains powered clock to time when the unit is not in use.
The slim remote control lets you manage all of the unit's functions from the comfort of your armchair.

This is a fantastic I-pod docking station, but it has the great ability for Radio, CD player and USB input, all of which both the B&W Zepplin and BOSE soundock DON'T have! I have put all of these units together and tested them, and there really is no discernible difference between them. The value for money is fantastic. It won't serve as a replacement for the a high end stereo system ie in your lounge, but for the kitchen/garden etc it is brilliant!
There was a bit of an issue with it, as it started to get interference, but the guys I bought it from sorted that out with no hassles what-so-ever.
I highly recommend this unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely AMAZING 31 Oct 2012
By Djstar
Coming from a piano background, I enjoy having a great sounding system. Due to space constrains, I went with a Harman Kardon soundsticks 2 during my days in college, which I subsequently passed on to my parents. I toyed with the Bose Sounddock 10 for a while, and also with some other random docks, as I wanted a small system that could give decent sound from my ipod without breaking the bank.

The Bose was almost perfect, except as usual, it sounded way better in the store than at home (they have great acoustic rooms), and the price was a little steep. The TEAC SR-100i was perfect! I never expected it to sound so good for so little! (I had an amazing deal for it) Frankly, its phenomenal for the price and size. Treble was clear and bass was there when you needed them.

Only downside is that the bass kicks in only at volumes 7 and up, while the dock likes to start everytime at vol 6. Remote is beautiful and the speaker is surely a conversation piece. Get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ipod dock Oscar goes to Teac SR-1001 28 Feb 2012
By Mod_it
I've never been a fan of most ipod docks..Being a turntable user.Ithought the sound if most of these devices mute and life-less.Bose and B&W and Klipsh make the best of a bad bunch, but at a price. This Teac model is well built and sounds better than the Bose models..and the B&W .Its steal at the price and a joy to use.Full marks on build quality and sound when compared to the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ugly as Sin but Great Value 23 Jun 2012

I have an ancient Bose Acoustic Wave in my study for listening to the radio and playing CDs without pain. The CD player is failing (laser dying, I imagine) and I needed either to get it fixed, which is increasingly difficult in this age of planned obsolescence, or buy a replacement.

Now, whatever merits the Acoustic Wave may have, cheapness is not one of them. Even old ones on eBay aren't cheap and there would be no guarantee that they would be any better than mine. Hence, I started casting round for a one-box replacement that I could afford to buy new. The Ruark (Vita) R4i is an obvious candidate but it is bigger than the Bose (being surprisingly deep) and also costs a tidy £600 in white.

Browsing on the Amazon website (often a worthwhile exercise) brought forth this TEAC box. I associate TEAC with good but pricey hi-fi components such as CD players, so I was surprised at the price of this. Could it be any good at that price?

True it lacks DAB radio but DAB reception at Flatpack Towers is poor (as I believe it is in many locations), so that was of no concern. Incidentally, I believe that DAB is a technical blind alley, as it will be superseded by internet radio, so investment in it would be a waste in the medium term.

The iPod dock was obviously a highly desirable feature and that tipped the scales in favour of buying one, which I did. Very unusually, the Amazon packaging was on the verge of disintegration when the heavy box arrived, but the TEAC box inside was completely intact. Unpacking was a matter of moments as was setting up the SR-1001. I was a bit surprised at the size - do check the dimensions before buying.

After two days of ownership I must say that my initial impressions are very favourable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stupendous buy 28 April 2012

Bought this to use in a small house so I would have good quality sound available throughout the ground floor and I am delighted. Plays CDs and my ipod with splendid results. Throughly recommended if you can afford something more than the £99 "bargains" usually offered. Supplier service was immaculate too.
