I've used these discs exclusively for 4 years or so, since first owning a DVD recorder, originally on an early Sony model, then on several Panasonic machines. The discs have always worked perfectly, apart from latterly on the Sony, when the machine began identifying both clean part used and brand new discs as "dirty" and spat them out. Simultaneously the Panasonics were still (and still are) working perfectly with these discs.

As far as I am concerned I can thoroughly recommend them both for recording and longevity (to date). However, as noted by previous critics, the change to darker coloured writing surfaces (originally they were a more sensible pale blue) does sometimes lead to problems reading titles written even in black ink, especially in low light or reflected glare.

I agree with the previous comment that these disks are too dark to write clearly on. I have stopped buying TDK disks for this reason alone. It's a shame since my previous 50 disks all worked flawlessly(burned at 12x) and I do trust the brand.

Edit(2010): Thanks for the comment from C.Haynes, these disks are now a light blue. Seems like I can start buying them again.

I have brought 2 packs of 50 TDK disc's With different colouring. One pack does not work at all. Other pack is intermissent. When arrived the pack's were unsealed. I am very unhappy about this and will NEVER order from this seller again nor will I reccomend this seller to anyone else. I am currently seeking a refund for both set's of disc's.

I've used TDK discs and had no problems writing to or reading from them in my Sony HD/DVD recorder - they work very well. However, I've only used them in that one machine so there could be compatibility issues with other machines.

If you enjoy photography, then you might already be using an compact digital camera and software to create videos of family occasions? A well-known leading supermarket has 50 DVD's blanks at the same price as Amazon sells for a 100, yes even with p&p!

If i could award 2 sets of five-stars, i would!

Firstly, the packaging of the item was fantastic - especially considering it was free delivery. Bubble-wrapped inside a cardboard box, and neatly taped.
Secondly, they arrived a lot sooner than i thought they would. I placed my order on Sunday evening, got a despatch notification on Monday and then they arrived to my door on Tuesday!

As for the discs themselves - they are great! I've never used TDKs before but knew that they are a quality brand - so i was undecided between these and Verbatims. I went with the TDKs.

To get straight to the point, i put a disc into my Pioneer DVD burner. DVD Decrypter is my burning software of choice - it gives useful info about the blank disc including its projected maximum burn speed. These are showing up as 18x compatible. I've never forced DVD Decrypter to burn faster than the disc's advertised speed, so i just set it to MAX in which mode the software and burner will choose whatever it thinks the disc can handle. On every other disc to date i have used, i have never seen DVD Decrypter go over 16x - in fact even on my Verbatims it only goes close to 15x towards the final few seconds of burning, on all other cheaper brands of 16x disc it never went over 12x. I have so far burnt 5 of these TDKs and they all went up to 17x - i've never seen that before. I'm sure the discs would probably handle more if your manually forced them too but even left how it was, they burnt very quickly - about 5 mins per full disc.

I am very pleased with both the seller and the product. Will definitely be coming back for more when needed!
