First the essential stuff:-
You see five - you get five - not one of them as a different sellers listing cunningly baits.
They are TDK originals and interms of quality of construction and performance they are the benchmarks.
The set is colour keyed in five flavours for easy identification and include the obligatory cases and labels.
I have been using a set solidly since August 2011. I have no issues of any description to report.
The lens gates opens cleanly, the disks list and search perfectly, they play with clarity and no drop-outs.
All supplementary functions such as uploading tracks and managing the table of contents and track order have been a breeze. In the most demanding situations they have proved to be utterly reliable.

Now to the concept:-
More than twenty years after MD was born but more importantly, more than 10 years after it was supposed to have died, MD still prevails. In a world awash with MP3 and slices APPLE everywhere this makes no sense at all. They have even taken the machines away from us and yet still a significant band of disciples follow relentless in the hope of a second coming. Why?
What I add are the reasons, I bought these in preference to arming up any number of alternative devices I have lying around.
First, because its hardware based, no boot-up issues, software conflicts to worry about - even occasionally.
The buffer of a MD player is sufficient that it has read enough of the music upfront to keep you playing until a small earthquake stops, pushing it a margin ahead of CD other silver disc media that has never been recovered.
Sound reproduction is compromised by the format, but so is MP3 and critically MD sounds less so.

It comes down to this. Though you may convince yourself otherwise, anything with software in it is going to get you one day. It might only ever get you ONCE, but if that once is in front of 275 on a Saturday evening, mid-song YOU are not going to forget it long after THEY have.
MD prevails not because of what it does, which was overtaken before some of you reading this were born. MD lives on because of what it won't do. Unless you abuse them, MD's just don't let you down.

You can buy this product with confidence.

Ive used minidiscs for around the last 6 years, and still they are good value for money.I also have a solid stae recorder, but as a back up for live recordings, give me a minidisc anyday.I bought my sony mz nh700 md recorder in 2005 and its had a hell of a lot of use,and until it gives up and dies i see no reason to stop using it.Minidisc recorders and players are pretty cheap, although the hi-sp recorders do tend to sell for a bit more than the others. If you need to upgrade from cassette ( remember those ?) but dont want to spend a lot on a solid state recorder,a minidisc recorder is a good investment, and the discs are dirt cheap too.
