Engrossing 7 April 2014
By smartypants - Published on Amazon.com

Bought this for a movie lover who literally read the whole set of two books in one sitting. He could not put it down. Taschen is nice for an international perspective, not just the ordinary Hollywood critics. These books contain great photos, including behind the scenes pictures, along with filmographies about each of the movies. Very interesting.

Great movies chosen- poor quality to read, TASCHEN 15 April 2014
By Easy Rider - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This two-volume set is very good looking, the movies are well chosen, and for the most part, the commentaries for each movie are very informative and insightful. I take exception to the white print on a black background thoroughout the books.
The publisher Taschen may think it looks elegant, but it forgets that these books are to be read, not just be used as decoration for a coffee table. It is annoying how difficult it is to read these books, which takes away from the joy one should have when reading about these movies.
Why were not the books printed with black ink on a white background? It would have been a much better choice, and less expensive.
These books are not mere decoration. People read them, too!
