I wanted this to stone cherries more than a garlic press. I decided to wash first before use and put in dishwasher. It came out black and rubbed off on your hands. Therefore, I had to throw it away!

This is probably not your best choice of garlic press. I am assuming the product I received was defective, because after it was washed for the first time some kind of black stuff started rubbing off of it onto hands, garlic, chopping boards, etc.--not nice. This possibly (hopefully!) unique attribute aside, however, I would still not recommend this press over others available. It feels sort of cheap and insubstantial in your hand, for one thing. I can't comment on the cherry pitter as I didn't try it, but the garlic press just doesn't work very well. The holes are too small and the gap between the actual press and the cup part a little too big, so garlic inevitably escapes unpressed (more so than with other presses I've used in the past). I'd try a different one.

I was disappointed with this item. Most of the garlic was squeezed out through the gap rather than through the holes, leading to large chunks of garlic in the cooking. Probably about the worst garlic press I have come across.

Cheap and cheerful
Yes the garlic does squeeze out of the sides but never mind! It is great for pitting olives. Other olive pitters are enormous (and possibly over engineered) and don't easily fit in... Read more

does the job
it does the job fine, just dont put it in a dishwasher because all the shinyness comes off and it turned my hands black when i picked it up.

good quality
nothing fiddly about this one, it's perfect. No parts come off where the garlic is pressed, thus giving a crisp and easy crushed clove of garlic. I love it. Read more

Garlic press
I had a similar one of these useful gadgets which lasted over 30 years! This new one seems to be of the same sturdy construction and I am very pleased with it.
