I burnt the cakes. You're no good at baking said He. It's the oven said I. Perhaps the thermostat is broken suggested I. So in pops this thermometer and the temperature gauge goes up - and up - and up. Now He is not eating cakes but his words, while I get the thermostat fixed. Extremely useful gadget.

Oven cleaner had removed the heat settings from my oven so the last few years i have had to guess how hot it is. I finally decided to purchase an oven thermometer. Having looked at the ones on offer, some of which had bad reviews i decided to go for a cheap option so if it didn't work i could bin it with no serious loss. This arrived today and i have just tested it. My oven goes to 220 and the thermometer confirms this. It also hangs between the oven tray without any problems. What more can you ask for, does as it says.

Works well, but question materials ..,

What can I say - it tells the temperature and seems accurate. Nice easy to read display .. but a pity about the American bias for those funny Fahrenheit things!
One big fault seems to be the material used for the white background. Already after just a few weeks mine is turning a hue of brownish-white and without going over 200C. Others have commented that 230-240C will turn it brown. The stand can stand or hang and bends easily enough to position it a bit better.
