"T-Shirt Factory" features designs selected by Beams T, a hugely popular fashion retail chain and manufacturer in Japan devoted to T-shirts. Beams T regards the T-shirt as a canvas for new ideas in art and design, and in each year of its 20-year history has invited artists from around the world to create designs for their T-shirts, 300 of which are featured here. Beams T is a popular T-shirt chain in Japan which opened its first retail outlet in 2001. They now have a chain of stores throughout Japan, which feature their exclusive rotating hanger device and minimalist interior design, ensuring all consumer attention is focused on the T-shirts. The shops also serve as an exhibition space for the artwork from participating artists.

This book is pretty much a catalogue of the history of Beams T's T-shirts. Sadly the quality of the artwork included is not exactly inspiring though is reasonable, also the artwork is presented as images of the art alone or just pasted over a basic black outline of a tee. I feel the book would have majorly benefitted from some photos of actual t-shirts to liven up the pages a bit. So overall it's ok just a bit bland! If you want a great book about t-shirts get Tees: The art of the t-shirt by Maki.

I received this present as a wish list gift at Christmas. I expected it to be valuable in my ongoing pursuit of possibly designing some t-shirts. However, this definitely wasn't what I expected, the layout is dreadful, the artwork is dreadful and worse still, they're all mock-ups.
