Thank You Books etc! 28 Aug 2003

I saw this book had been reviewed by a member of staff in my local bookshop and thought it looked like an easy read. It far outreached my expectations.
With natty quotes from Margaret Thatcher and C-3PO to name but two this was one of the most enjoyable reads of my summer.
I have known many Charlie's in my time, but have one question for the author's girlfriend... if he is 98% chimpanzee... whats the other 2%?

This book immediately captures the attention of the (male) reader with a sex scene, and the plot is almost instantly laid out, making this a very easy book to instantly 'get in to'.

The scenes continue, variously describing the troublesome aspects of the life of a male rapidly reaching middle age, but not actually wanting to grow up.

The book is always humourous, and the topics covered (hopefully not all of the actual situations encountered!) are familiar to all of us at a similar age. The main theme of the book - the Male lack of acceptance of responsibilty, and the hope of a quick-fix easy way out - is something that most men strive for, but very few achieve.

I liked this book immensely, mainly as it about a normal working bloke, who most readers will be able to idnetify with. The style is easy to read and always funny - definitely a book that will be discussed down the pub. It's well worth a read, and I'll definitely look out for the next title from this new Author

For the passed week I have been the nutter on the tube, grinning to herself every few minutes, but I can't help it! Asplin's debut novel is a delve into the 20 something male brain, that no 20 something female should miss. You may not actually like what you learn about the species, but at least it will help you to understand them?! It is hilarious, and the more crazy people laughing on the tube, the better, so get reading.
