I have mixed feelings about this Album.
Firstly, I have to say that this Album has some of the most stunningly beautiful artwork I have ever seen on any CD!
As always; most of Ms. Brightman's Albums are neither one thing or the other - totally speaking; neither wholly 'Classical' or 'Pop' - it's always somewhere 'in the middle'. For some reason, because of the artwork, I expected a more 'Classical' leaning to this, but what I got was the usual mixture, which in any case was still very good. Some Songs are hauntingly beautiful, but I do have a few criticisms;
Firstly; there are several Duets on this, but her co-Singers; I'd never heard of any of these people... (excepting Bocelli of course) I had to go look them up, and apart from 'Alessandro Safina' looking really fit and handsome from the images I found (well - it all helps I guess! lol ) I didn't recognise any of them... This was not a problem in itself, but the Duet with 'Paul Stanley' in particular was a bad choice I felt - the voices did not blend well or compliment each other in any way and was a distinctly bad match...
Secondly; some Songs were badly chosen for Sarah's range too; the Intro. for example of 'Running' is not in her vocal pitch/range. When listening to this Piece (I think it's the second or third line in) she has to come down 'dramatically' and 'conspicuously' a Key or so which is extremely noticeable and is hard on the Listener... The music on some Tracks is also a bit too loud and often droens her deliacte vocals...
Finally; I think Sarah should sing more 'Classical' material - simply because her voice is quite beautiful, and although I like (as the rest of her large fan base) her more 'Pop-py' material, it does not get the best out of her or utilise that marvellous Soprano vocal talent that she has - and does not use often enough in my opinion...
All that said; this is still a VERY nice Album!
