As always, Devereux has thoroughly researched his ideas and provides another well-written and quite fascinating book which links the countryside today with the rituals and way-of-life of our long-gone ancestors. The section on Avebury is excellent, providing a different 'take' on the whole area to any that I've previously read. His comments on the West Kennet Long Barrow are particularly interesting, though I feel that I have to see it all for myself before making up my mind. His ideas certainly open one's mind to a totally different view of the landscape.
