Having used Norton Systemworks for serveral years I find this version the best yet, I have it running on both my main system and my laptop with no problems, everything is running perfect.
I highly recommend this.

I recently upgraded my PC from Windows 98SE to Windows XP+SP2. Despite what I had read, my PC actually ran a bit faster. Since I was now running XP on an 80GB NTFS disc, I wanted something to maintain my system. As a long-time Norton Utilities user (since the DOS versions) I naturally thought of Norton Systemworks. But having read about problems between XP and various Norton software (Systemworks, Firewall, Anti-virus), I decided to wait until the 2005 version was released, assuming these issues would have been addressed. I was wrong.
Norton Systemworks installed without problem. Once installed, I turned off everything, including Protection of the Recycle Bin. But my PC is slower! And if everything has been turned off, why do I have a bunch of Symantec processes still running in memory?

I didn't install Ghost or GoBack so I can't comment on them.
WinDoctor, Clean-Up, CleanSweep & Check-It Diagnostics all seem to run fine. SpeedDisk works, but it's slower than the 2002 version. Whether this is because it's an NTFS drive I don't know.
Apart from the slow-down, the main disappointments are Norton DiskDoctor & Norton Anti-virus. DiskDoctor can't actually fix anything without rebooting my PC and when it reboots, it uses CheckDsk - so why am I paying for Norton DiskDoctor ...? Norton Anti-virus may be thorough, but they've succeeded in making it even slower than before. To scan 20GB of files, I had time to eat dinner & watch a movie!
I won't be upgrading to the next version. I will also be looking for alternatives that are faster & don't slow the performance of my machine. This was a £54 disappointment.

Well I can see there are some who don't think that this is a good product but I disagree completely. I believe that all PC's and Laptops are different. I installed this product on my tiny averatec notebook and it has completely transformed my system. I have a 60 GB notebook that is tiny but powerful and I thought at first that such a small laptop might not be able to handle a biggy like norton systemworks premier but I was wrong. speed disk in norton utilities has made my notebook work faster on programs and startup, everything has been good ever since I have had this brilliant pieace of software. I had already installed norton internet security 2005 on my notebook so I thought that this would go well with the internet security and it has. both programs work together like partners and have, as I said before transformed my notebook completely. I highly recommend this product to anyone with an XP PC or laptop. I think that this software won't work for everybody but for the lucky computers that work well with it it should transform your average PC or Laptop into a super computer and I garantee that.

Wouldn't install properly on my PC.
I've been using Systemworks 2003 on my machine for 3 years now, and while it's not always the most co-operative software, the pros have usually outweighed the cons so I've stuck... Read more

Major Disappointment
Having upgraded to Windows XP+SP2 from Windows 98SE, I was pleasantly surprised that XP+SP2 was actually faster than 98SE on my machine. Read more
