Overview
Someone is brutally murdering innocent women in downtown Toronto. Sassy Detective Sydney Granger and her playful partner Mike Stanza are on the case. With no witnesses, prints, or clues connecting any of the crime scenes, apprehending the vicious killer seems remote. Then, Sydney makes a chilling discovery that blows the case wide open.

A light, fun, and fast paced mystery.

Great Story. 21 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I took to this e book with ease. I tested the sample, loved it and downloaded the full works. It's fast paced and well written. One of those stories you don't want to end. Patricia has created a well defined MC in Sydney and I love the banter between her and working partner, Mike. It makes for a great professional relationship. I loved the mention of streets and areas of Toronto where the story is set, as I recognise them from holidays there. I look forward to the next Sydney Granger Mystery. Bring it on Patricia.:-)

Wow what a great book!! I downloaded this one as it was free and was pleasently surprised, especially as romance is my usual cup of tea! It focuses on several murders and trying to figure out the links between all three of them. The descriptions in areas were brilliantly written, creating a very dark mood around the murders and not making them a light topic, which helps to create the right atmosphere and make it all seem a lot more believable. I'm not sure why Sydney's partner Mikes gran is thrown in, I guess to make the characters seem more human, but overall it was an excellent read and not a long one. It turns out the murderer is someone you least suspect which is also brilliant as you can see how the trail develops properly and aren't influenced by other 'potential' suspects. I would highly recommend this book - but would disagree with the description of it being 'fun' unless I take the idea of murder a little too seriously......

So intriguing! 1 Dec 2011
By The Book Goddess - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely adore the heroine in this book! Sydney simply fascinated me from page one. I love her quirkiness and overall personality. The dynamics between her and her partner, Mike, is fabulous and I found myself laughing out loud at some of their conversations, especially Sydney's internal thoughts. The author did a great job at weaving humor into the story-line.

The crimes scenes are detailed. It felt like I was there, viewing the bodies with the characters. And the murderer...what a nut job! He is twisted, and I found his internal throughts eerie.

This is definitely a book that will keep you wondering, who in the world is committing these murders. Just wait until you get to the end! It's fast-paced, too, so hold onto your seat and get ready for a wild ride. After reading this, I wanted to buy a Taser, or at least some pepper spray.

If you're looking for a good murder mystery that will keep you wondering, who done it, then buy this book!

A Law and Order Episode on the Mean Streets of Toronto. 1 Dec 2011
By Taylor Lee (The Grandmaster's Legacy) - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
What Detective Sydney Granger lacks in brawn she more than makes up for in brains and flat out feminine instincts. Only five feet four inches tall and a tofu eating vegetarian at that, Sydney and her partner Mike Stanza make an unlikely pair. Mike is as gregarious and burly as Sydney is contained and standoffish. While Mike chops on double burgers and fat filled fries, Sydney munches on her salads and groans at his excesses. Mike is a magnet for women, any woman, while even Sydney admits that she is experiencing an uncomfortably long "man-drought". But when a serial killer hits the mean streets of Toronto the partner pair pools their investigative resources and sets out to find the killer in a page turning mystery worthy of the best episodes of Law and Order.

The fun and the interest in this quick reading police mystery are the memorable characters the author presents. In addition to Sydney and Mike, we get a close up look at the murder victims as well as some most intriguing secondary characters. There is the suspect who has an unusual habit of leaving disgusting sets of grimy false teeth behind perilously close to the bodies of the victims. And who could forget the nosy old lady who provides the final clues -- driven by her distaste of stalking men who relieve themselves in her bushes.

The personal glimpse of the murder victims makes them real, more than a crime statistic. We see the lives they could have led had they not been brutally killed and the heartache they leave behind. The anonymous musings of the murderer take us inside the psyche of a vicious killer and heightens the suspense.

While Sydney and Mike indulge in humorous, harmless sexually charged banter, the story is not without potential love interests. Sydney has a run in with a sexy mobster with a history, a history with her. And the addition to their squad of a good looking detective with a "to die for" physique lends some steamy intrigue to the murder investigation.

The author urges us along, dropping clues, introducing colorful characters, memorable dialogue and a compelling murder mystery. She also leaves the reader hoping that the next episode on the mean streets of Toronto is not long in coming.
