    About the Author

Once upon a time I wanted to be a writer more than anything in the world. I could tell stories with the best of them, so I just knew I could write well, too. Funny thing about writing, though...it's nothing like telling a story. I bet you've noticed that, too. I'd even go as far as to bet there have been times...plenty of them, when you've been writing along just fine, then suddenly, you hit a brick wall over how to describe the simplest thing. 25 years ago, there wasn't anything much available other than Webster's Dictionary or Roget's Thesaurus and a couple of synonym and antonym books. So, I decided I'd start to put together what I was looking for, myself. Just read the phrases and use what you want just as they’re written or better yet, read all the suggested phrases in a particular category for inspiration to conquer your writer's block! I hope you get a lot of use out of this book.

    More About the Author

    Hi!

    I'm Sybrina.

Those were the prehistoric days, before p.c.'s. Each bit of information I gathered was tediously placed behind index tabs in spiral notebooks...lots of notebooks and tons of tabs. It very quickly became a monstrous task. When I got my first computer, with Word Perfect's word "search and replace" features, I felt like I'd finally arrived in the 20th century but the best was yet to come.

Word for Windows made cross-referencing all those phrases to all of their relevant categories a breeze. After that came html format, which which worked great for Microsoft user but Apple computers couldn't open them. Finally, I was able to create a fully linked version in PDF and wouldn't you know it, Ebooks can't format links properly. But I haven't let that deter my desire to share Sybrina's Phrase Thesaurus with everyone. That's why I offer the free version for Amazon Prime subscribers. If you like it but would really like to be able to easily jump to any category you're interested in, please buy the linked "tool" at sybrina.com

You may have gotten to this page because of your interest in "Learn To Tie A Tie With The Rabbit and the Fox". Believe it or not, I actually started writing that little story in 1989! My children and I were shopping for a tie for my husband to wear to a very important "white collar" job interview. He was always a "blue collar" worker thus having very little opportunity to wear a tie. Consequently, at the age of 32, he was unsure as to how to go about tying the "dang thing" properly.

Laughingly, I mentioned to the salesman that my husband was going to have to call his father to get instructions over the telephone. At that point, the very pleasant young man whisked the tie, which he had helped select, off the counter and draped it around his neck. The kids and I couldn't help giggling as the effect was rather humorous considering he was already wearing a suit and tie.

"Let me tell you a little story that is so simple even a child can remember it," he exclaimed and proceeded to tell us about a little rabbit who was being chased by a fox. The whole while he moved the tie through the sequence of events as they occurred.

The story went like this, all inclusive, "There once was a little rabbit being chased by a fox. The fox chased him around a tree once. Then, they ran around it again. Then, the rabbit ran under a bush. Next, he jumped over a log. Then, he jumped into a hole and was safe."

By the time the rabbit was safely away from the fox, the tie was completely tied with a beautiful knot. My children and I were delighted and couldn't wait to get home to show their dad what we had learned.

Sure enough, we remembered the steps of the rabbit's flight from the fox and related them to him. Within moments, he had tied a knot in his new tie that looked like it had been accomplished by an expert.

To make a long story short, he went on the interview looking like a true professional and got the job!

I've always wanted to share this story with the world and originally created the attached animated instructional song video, which is also available on Youtube. But what I really wanted to create was a family activity picture book where all participants could practice the steps of tying the tie with the rabbit and the fox as they read the book together.

And so, this little picture book was finally born and is now available in Kindle format, right here on Amazon. Look for it soon, in a version that you can actually hold in your hand!

One more note - I'm just one of millions of wannabe author/singer/songwriters but I hope you'll think my contributions to the world have as much value as any other famous artist out there today.

Fame is all in being in the right place at the right time but at least with the internet and venues like this, all of us have opportunities to share our creativity with the world. I'm so happy that I am able to share my works with you.

    That is awesome!

I'm trying to write my first book and I kept getting stuck on repetitive phrases. This thesaurus is a really good companion. The links on the contents page don't work so you can't just look at the contents and then go to the correct page instantly but not a big deal for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars No active table of contents 30 Oct 2011

This book has a vast amount of information and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a writer or wants to expand their descriptive vocabulary. However, there is no active TOC which makes it difficult to maneuver within the book. I highlighted the main topics along with some of the subtopics for easy navigation. For the price ($.99) it is worth the information.

    4.0 out of 5 stars I find it useful 5 Mar 2012

I didn't have any problems navigating my way through. Let's say I am looking for nod movement, I chose headmovements, then nod or nodding, I click on that and I get a few options to get my thought process going. I probably do not actually use many of the phrases, however, it has pushed me forward, especially when I am stuck. I would love to see more phrase books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really sad to say this... 13 Feb 2012

Pretend you have a dictionary in front of you and you want to look up tomato. You flip to the T's. Now pretend there is no way to get there except to flip through every single other word in that dictionary that comes before it. That is what it's like with this book.

Unless this book does get a TOC, it is unusable. Forget the 'inconvenience' it really isn't useful without a TOC. The content looks great, but why will I wade through an entire book (and it's a big book) just to find the section I need? I won't remember all this by heart, it is, as it states a thesaurus. Unlike a print book, you can't open the book right away to what you want.

The book content? Great. But how can I use it?
3.0 out of 5 stars Are some good ideas here 6 July 2014

This is an idea book to help writers to craft their sentences. There. Are some good ideas here, but you have to wade through the information because there is no electronic table of contents. I probably won't use this very much.
