The numerous explosions and set-piece exchanges of high calibre gunfire tend at times to blowholes in the narrative fabric and sense of Swordfish, a film that nonetheless engages through its extravagant silliness. Vinnie Jones is under-used as a fearsome minder, a close-up of Halle Berry's breasts isn't entirely integral to the plotline, while Travolta enjoys himself as the dapper ringmaster of this orgy of techno-chaos, especially in scenes in which he blasts away a brace of pursuing assassins with improbable aplomb and during his opening, Tarantino-esque monologue. By the end, he has shown himself in his apparently true colours in such a way that events of September 11, 2001--although made prior to them--lent the film an eerie sense of prescience. --David Stubbs

A surprise....,

Swordfish is a film I remember looking at when it first came out and thinking "that looks like rubbish", but it wasn't until last week, on the recommendation that it was a "great film to test a surround sound set up", that I finally decided to give it a try, and you know I was totally surprised.....
it's MUCH worse than ever I could have imagined. To be fair, it did give the surround sound a good work out, so if you like a lot of explosions and the sound of ball bearings ricocheting off things then this is the film for you. If, on the other hand you crave a plausible plot, or decent acting then look elsewhere.

I read the reviews about how bad this was and yet decided to give it ago, because it was mentioned on "Chuck" an NBC show which I enjoy.Yep it is truly awful, the plot makes no sense at all, and just silly pointless shots of a bus hanging from a chopper being dragged round LA. Seems to be a show case for semi clad girls. None of the actor's left any lasting impression, you felt no empathy with any of them. One explosion scene at the beginning was well done, but did not marry up with anything later in the film. Left a great deal to be desired, it had the potential to make an interesting film but went in the wrong direction.

This was an entertaining film and very enjoyable and fast paced. An action thriller and I would reccommend it to others
