Book Description

Another high-stakes military techno thriller from the award-winning author of 'Sea of Shadows' and 'The Seventh Angel"

Three Tibetan rebels attack a train carrying Chinese soldiers into the Tibet Autonomous Region. The rebels escape across the Himalayas into India, unaware that the son of China's First Vice-Premier lays maimed and dying among the burning wreckage of the train.

As an escalating series of retaliations drive China and India toward outright war, hostilities spill over into the sea, and the Bay of Bengal becomes a crucible of naval warfare. The president of the United States orders a U.S. Navy strike group into the area as a stabilizing force, but the situation between the two nations has already deteriorated beyond any hope of peaceful resolution.

With Asia hovering on the brink of annihilation, a small force of U.S. warships must defeat the Chinese Navy to preempt the coming firestorm.

"High stakes on the high seas. A riveting drama of 21st century warfare ripped from tomorrow's headlines. Jeff Edwards proves again that he is the undisputed master of the modern naval thriller."
-- DIRK CUSSLER, Bestselling author of 'Crescent Dawn,' and 'Poseidon's Arrow'

"A fantastic and chilling take on how close to the edge of disaster our world actually might be. The adrenaline-fueled writing sends you hurtling forward like a missile."
-- GRAHAM BROWN, International bestselling author of 'The Storm,' and 'The Eden Prophesy'

"Impossible to put down! Jeff Edwards has produced another spellbinder that puts you there! ...eerily prescient about where the next world war will begin."
-- GEORGE GALDORISI, New York Times bestselling author of 'Act of Valor,' and 'The Coronado Conspiracy'

very good story when the author sticks to the storyline is inclined to wander
off into to much detail about how torpedoes & rockets work but a very enjoyable read

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent 24 Aug. 2013

Another gripping read from Jeff Edwards. Totally believable and scary that this kind of confrontation between China, India and the US could easily happen. Plenty of techno detail makes the tale very realistic and the action sequences are well written and not OTT like in so many books of this ilk.
Buy and enjoy if you like naval/political thrillers.

3.0 out of 5 stars A curates egg 23 Aug. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Premise of story good, a few editorial mistakes BUT there is one massive factual blunder. The target being the Three Gorges Dam could not bring the USA on the side of India, simply because by targeting a dam India would be in breach of international law, which the Indian ambassador would be fully aware of, as would the Chinese and American representatives. Therefore I suggest that the USA would have to ally itself with China or remain stoically neutral in the conflict. Dams were outlawed as targets in the Geneva convention after the Second World War as a direct result of the impact of operation Chastise by 617 squadron of the RAF (the Dambusters).

5.0 out of 5 stars a real page turner 11 Jun. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a great fan of Jeff Edwards even if the story lines may be almost too fantastic. The previous books need to be read in order to give the background to this book. Beware once you pick one up and start reading its one hell of a job to put down without finishing it.

Not a bad read, fast paced action but I felt a little bit hit or miss in between hence four stars.
The story concept was quite believable and in present times very plausible, if you like action and naval stories then this is one for you.
