This is definitley an album that needs a couple of listens. On my first impression (after listening to The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most and MTV Unplugged) I was a little disappointed and didn't think it was up to scratch and would be one of those cd's that sits in the collection and is never played but after 3 listens I changed my mind completely and it is the same Dashboard everyone knows and loves.
The album contains Screaming Infedelities and Again I Go Unnoticed which when you listen to you will realise why these have been re done for The Places album.
But all in all every other song bar 1 is another classic delving into the life of Chris and what has happened to his life.
Top songs on the album have to be A Plain Old Morning, Ender Will Save Us All and Shirts & Gloves. Only song on there to avoid in This is a Forgery which I think could of been left off the album. Some sort of 80's weird electronic sound going on in the background, just didn't float my boat!
If you love Dashboard's other albums then this is a must have, it will just take a couple of listens but then it will stay in your cd player for a long time after that.
However, there are three exceptional songs on the album, the title track, Age Six Racer and Screaming Infidelities. The former and the latter have both been remade on later releases and sound very different, and possibly better, but Age Six Racer is one of the best songs produced by Chris and the band in the four albums to date. The added vocalist also sounds very hot.
