This CD of (mainly) early 1960s recordings does nothing for me at all. Perhaps it's because, in over 50 years of listening (and at one time playing) traditional jazz, I've heard these familiar titles thousands of times before and now they have become boring, well played though they are.
This is in spite of the DSC being one of my favourite bands, playing as they have done since 1945 competently and enthusiastically. I now prefer their later stuff which is more mainstream/swing, whereas this is out and out trad - popular at the time of course.
Also the recording, which was undoubtedly state of the art stereo then, is now dated, with it's big echo-chamberish sound and over-separation of the instruments.
