United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital Stereo ), English ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Alternative Footage, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: The first ever comedy sketch show commissioned and broadcast by five, SWINGING is shot in a loose, naturalistic style with many sketches almost documentary-like in their look and feel. With universal appeal to both men and women, the DVD will include all six hilarious episodes that will have your sides splitting and is accompanied by an episode's worth of never before seen additional sketches. SWINGING on DVD is a must-have for comedy fans and an ideal gift for those who loved The Catherine Tate Show, Little Britain and The Fast Show. Through a cast of strong returning characters and occasional one-off sketches, SWINGING journeys through the full range of sexual behaviour and the relationships surrounding that behaviour. It's a comedic tour of the subject on everyone's mind - From the gloriously surreal to the frighteningly banal, our regular characters all embody truths about lust and loving which are painfully familiar. ...Swinging - Series One

Hidden gem 22 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Format:DVD
I stumbled upon this late on Friday night. Frankly, I had to wonder why Five had decided to tuck it away in the schedules up against some more established comedy on Channel 4 and BBC 2.

It is an absolute comedy gem. Don't be put off by the title. Swinging never gets as base as Little Britain, or (heaven forbid Titty Bang Bang) and is far more original than both Spoons and Man Stroke Woman that came out around the same time.

The sketches, centred on sex and relationships (mainly relationships) are original, witty and very funnny.

Certainly worth buying for the comedy afficionado who wants to be exposed to something original.

More please Five!!

Comedy doesn't have to be frantic, over the top or based upon catchphrases to be funny. This underrated (and little known?) series is a gem. The sketches are virtually all based upon aspects of relationships, and often explore sex - but never as anything blatant or titillating, more as something to make you smile or laugh whilst simultaneously realising just how close to reality everything is. For instance - the young couple at a bar as the man keeps glancing at the barmaid. The dialogue goes something like this -

Woman - You fancy her don't you?

Man - Her? No. I fancy you.

Woman - She's pretty isn't she?

Man - No - YOU'RE pretty ...... she's stunning.

Quick, clever and yet with a bite. That typifies most of the sketches. The actors are all good and none seeks to outdo the others - this is a real ensemble piece.

I found this DVD by following up on the brilliantly funny mime/signing artist I saw in 'The Secret Policeman's Ball' (2006) who performed with Natalie Imbruglia. He turned out to be David Armand and via that search I found 'Swinging', in which he is one of the players.

I heartily recommend 'Swinging' if you enjoy clever, well thought out and well acted comedy - and if you agree that sex comedy doesn't have to be smutty, blatant or unduly suggestive for it to make you laugh.

brilliant 16 July 2006
Format:DVD
I saw this really cheap in a supermarket and took a chance on something i'd never heard of before. I was really glad I did, brilliantly written and performed. Had me constantly laughing and I'd definately agree with the above review - much better than spoons or man stroke woman. Hope there's a second series on the cards!
