Amazon.co.uk Review

Enclave is an exhilarating but difficult first-person role-playing game--a gritty, up-close-and-personal Diablo meets Halo experience. The basic action of the game takes place in a dark and chaotic landscape ripped apart by the "rift"--a bottomless crevasse magically created to surround the lone city of Celenheim, and keep it protected from the dark Outlanders preparing to invade. Your first mission, the Mission of Light, will be to make sure that the Outlanders do not succeed in their attempts. As a very fun side note, when you win the game for Celenheim, you can turn around and play the game as an Outlander.

You start the game as a knight and as the levels progress, you acquire various other characters that play pivotal roles in your ability to get through each level alive. In true Dungeons and Dragons style, you prep for each level by gearing up your character and purchasing the items you think will help you stay alive. Character selection is very important since each mission has unique challenges, tends to be pretty long and is usually impossible to save in progress. This brings me to the game's only major downfall--unless you are a patient and skilled gamer, there's a good possibility that you will get frustrated by not being able to get past difficult levels within a try or two. Many of the levels need to be attempted half a dozen times or more using different character and equipment combinations to get through. It's an enjoyable challenge, but may be too much like hard work for everyone. --Sung Nicholas Kim

3.0 out of 5 stars Enclave 30 July 2002
Being old and a lover of the original Dungeons and Dragons rpg, I thought that this would be an ideal subsitute, without the need of a dungeon master, paper, models and dice. The first few levels are great, the level of difficulty is about right, and the graphics are brilliant (please bare in mind I used to have a spectrum) but then the boredom set in, I pre ordered the game and the anticipation well outlasted the playability...

5.0 out of 5 stars I hoped it would never end! 20 Oct 2003
I must say that this is most likely the most enjoyable game of this type i have ever played. The graphics are beautiful and really provide the mood, the music is outstanding...especially if you have a good sound card. The controls are very responsive and wont take too long to get to grips with. You get a variety of different classes to play with and each one requires a different playing style (after all, you would not charge into the fray with an archer would you?)

I suggest this game to anyone that enjoys action and adventure!

3.0 out of 5 stars A1 graphics F gameplay 15 Aug 2002
Third person actioner with stunning graphics - textures and huge draw distance . You play as a good character v. bad and then when you finish you can be one of the bad guys with some variation in levels . Gameplay is mostly fighting and finding gold . This would not be too bad except it is so repetive and frustrating due to chronic controls which you cannot reconfigure
and no mid level save ( unforgivable in a world with halo ). It's like the game was rushed and never game tested- still it is

very preety although it is a little bugged eg poor motion detection alllows you to kill enemies right through sold walls . Come on Microsoft where are the killer games since Halo !!!!!
