5.0 out of 5 stars A tale with a surprizing ending and a message that children should learn 26 Nov. 2013
By Israel Drazin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This classic Hans Christian Anderson tale, costing only one cent on amazon kindle, is thought-provoking and has an interesting and thoughtful lesson that children should learn. Without revealing it, suffice it to say that it begins with a prince who wants to marry the emperor’s daughter. He gives her a beautiful magical rose that has a smell that causes people to forget sorrow, a nightingale that sings sweet songs, a magic pot, and a magic rattle, but she rejects him. He stays disguised working for the emperor as a swineherd. The ending of the tale is a surprise.

I loved Hans Christian Andersen's stories as a child, and having it in kindle format is like meeting with an old friend. The artwork is exquisite, just as I remember... For those who love "fairy tales", this is a must-have.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another dark ending 23 April 2014

Well written and beautifully illustrated. This tale certainly carries consequences for it's main character. However if you are not used to reading the original Anderson be prepared. His stories seldom have a happy ending.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous illustrations and text 17 Mar. 2014

These fairy tales are some of the most beautifully designed books I've read. The tales are classics and yet timely, tales for today's child in all of us. This is part of a series of fairytales by the same publisher. Be sure to look for the rest.
