More About the Author

Rebecca Farnworth worked as a radio producer and then journalist, writing light hearted articles covering subjects from male body hair [where do you stand on hairy backs? Answer as far away as possible] to going on a nudist beach [never again]. She got her big break as a writer when she was commissioned to write a celebrity autobiography in 2003, and has since gone on to ghost write a number of best-selling novels and autobiographies. Her own novels, Valentine and A Funny Thing About Love are contemporary love stories, with plenty of humour combined with emotional depth. Rebecca lives in Brighton with her husband, son and two daughters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 25 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Well, I was supposed to take this novel on holiday with me - it seemed like it would be the perfect holiday read. Turns out it's pretty much a perfect, feel-good read, wherever you are. I picked it up a few days ago with the notion that I'd peek at the first few pages, and hey-presto a few days later and I've finished it. Loved. The women are believable and empathetic, with real, everyday dilemmas. Of course, the book is aimed at the female market and so the guys are (in the main) very, very hot. The Greek setting is exquisite; I longed to return to Zakynthos as I turned the pages. Whether you're travelling abroad or not, you'll be hard pressed to find a more engaging, light-hearted summer read. Lovely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great holiday read xXx 16 Sep 2013
By realovesbooks TOP 500 REVIEWER TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
Although I am not a Katie Price fan I have enjoyed her novels, and when I found out that the author of Swimming Pool Summer is the same author who is Katie Price's ghost writer, I was looking forward to reading a book by Rebecca Farnworth which is published under her own name.

The story follows three friends Frankie, Leila and Tor. Each have a completely different love life. Leila is married to husband Tom and has a beautiful daughter Gracie. From the outside Leila looks to have the perfect love life but there are cracks that her friends cannot see. Tor is dating the gorgeous Ed but he is a lot younger than her and age seems a big problem to Tor even if it means nothing to Ed, and if this wasn't enough some big news puts Tor on edge too. Frankie is single, she has held a torch for their friend Patrick for a long time now but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual.
The friends all embark on a holiday in the sun together, but will this sort their problems out or will it only make things worse?

I couldn't have read this book at a better time, looking out and seeing the wet and windy weather I needed something to cheer me up as I started my week holiday and this book sure done the trick. All three of our main characters were fantastic although Frankie was a little bit if a hard character to warm to at first! I loved them all equally and they seemed to have a nice bond between them. The chapters alternate between the women so we get to know each of them first hand and we get to know their thoughts and their problems even though their friends do not know so I felt like I was one of the girls having hidden knowledge!

4.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT SUMMER READ 7 Sep 2013
Format:Paperback
The perfect Summer read for over-30 somethings tackling issues of love, childcare, careers and friendships - with a modern day Darcy thrown in. It's rare for me to laugh out loud while reading, but I did, at least half a dozen times. The novel is littered with well observed conversations between husbands and wives, friends, lovers, parents and children and the plot kept me glued right to the inevitable ending. Rebecca Farnworth has written an intelligent piece of chic lit with thought and humour. Nice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suggest you dive in! 27 Aug 2013
Format:Paperback
It's inviting this book - makes you want to dive in, immerse yourself in the fluid prose, hold your breath as the characters begin to make waves... Things are not going to go swimmingly...
Ok so enough Swimming Pool puns... This is a lovely book. Three friends, all guarding a secret, take off for a holiday on a Greek Island - against the backdrop of blue skies, azure seas, general all round enviable setting, these three very real and recognisable characters find themselves treading water in the deep end. Will they sink or swim?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great summer read 23 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I love reading a good summer read while it is hot outside and I can relax in the sunshine imagining that I am on some exotic island far away. A large part of reading for me is about escapism so devouring Swimming Pool Summer over the summer months was just perfect for me. Although I am sure that if you pick up this read during the winter it will be able to transport you away from those cold winter nights.

The premise of the story is quite simple focusing on the three women and their separate as well as inter-joined lives while on holiday in Greece. Rebecca Farnworth manages to describe Greece in such detail that I find myself wanting to book a holiday there immediately. From the villa the women are staying in to the restaurants and the scenery, it was all brought to life and made me feel as though I could almost be there along with them. I love books that are set abroad as they manage to add another layer of escapism while reading and Swimming Pool Summer did this perfectly for me.

All three main characters were fantastic, each being so relatable with their problems and dilemmas. I really felt for each of them with what they are going through as thirty something year old women in todays society. I really enjoyed the way in which the novel switches between the viewpoints of the women each chapter meaning I got a real feel for each of the ladies in turn and kept the plot moving at a good pace. My favourite character was probably Tor as she has many insecurities that a lot of women can relate to yet really she is a beautiful woman.

Swimming Pool Summer is a fantastic book to devour over the summer or while on holiday with a cocktail in hand. A beautiful setting, real issues and likeable characters make for a great light hearted summer read. I am looking forward to reading more from Rebecca Farnworth.
