Product Description

Product Description

All purpose Whistling Kettle with a quality Brushed Stainless Steel Body and stay cool black Stainless Steel Handle. The Whistle can be removed for both pouring and if a simmering kettle is required. In addition there is a 7mm Encapsulated Base for even heat distribution. Suitable for all Hob types including Gas, Induction, Ceramic, Radient Ring, Hot and Solid Plate.
Why Stainless Steel? Attractive, easy to clean and maintain, robust and long lasting. However Stainless Steel is a poor conductor of heat so make sure you choose a kettle with an encapsulated base and if necessary that is also suitable for Induction. An encapsulated base is where a disc of aluminium (which is a much better heat conductor) is sandwiched between 2 stainless steel discs on the base, the thicker the aluminum disc the more effective the heat conduction.
Why Swift? Swift began manufacturing Cookware and Kettles in Birmingham between the 2 World Wars and so can now bring over 50 years experience to the table so to speak. Now Swift source Cookware and Kettles from all over the World to ensure we bring you the best value for money and we are confident that we have a range for you.
Why Supreme? Supreme is Swifts oldest range of Cookware and Kettles and has become a timeless classic. The simple design works exceptionally well while quality wise Supreme is as you would expect at the top end of the scale with an extra thick encapsulated base and thicker than usual pan bodies. The encapsulated base totals 7mm for an excellently even heat distribution and is of course induction compatible.
Cleaning. Supreme can be cleaned by hand or in the Dishwasher although internally this is not ideal. By hand use warm soapy water and rinse well while a Stainless Steel Cleaner is recommended from time to time to maintain appearance.

I'm writing this because the technical description is poor. This kettle has an encapsulated base (?), which is mentioned on the details for another Swift kettle but not this model. It is also suitable for all hobs including induction. I bought mine for propane gas. It looks good because of the all stainless steel construction (mix of shiny and brushed finishes) but the downside of that is that the handle and whistle get very hot. You're not supposed to use abrasive pad cleaners but my kettle has a coppery/yellow sheen in places after some week's use. I can, however, clean the inside, which is useful in a hard water area.

Could someone explain encapsulated! I presume that it has something to do with efficiency.

I have bought this to replace an identical one that I've had for 10 years. Just like another reviewer the handle has now come off (I see hers only lasted 5 years). But this is far longer than any electric kettle has ever lasted us. I use this kettle on an induction hob and the large base makes it very efficient and fast to boil if you only put a small amount of water in (also see other reviewer - yes, do not overfill). I also love the look of this kettle and although I may be the only one in the family to agree, I like the whistle!! My husband must love it really because he's been known to polish it but it has also been through the dishwasher and is absolutely fine.

This time I shall keep my receipt as I see it now has a lifetime guarantee. Overall I highly recommend this item.

I like my whistling kettle, it's the first one I've had for many a decade. If I have one complaint about it, it would be that the handle gets very hot. It's very important to bear this in mind, especially if kids are likely to use it.

Bought this while waiting for electric kettle to be replaced under warranty. Worked well for that month then sat on a shelf for six months until electric kettle broke again! It's now off to be replaced under warrantly but at least this time we have a kettle we know we can rely on.

Works a treat, looks good and you definitely know when it's whistling! Large capacity too. I use it on a gas hob.

I suppose one minor drawback is that the handle and whistle get hot but as long as you have an oven glove or tea towel to hand, you're fine.

I'd recommend it to anyone - don't be put off by the fact that it's more expensive than most electric kettles; trust me when I say it will outlive them all!
