If your audio jack has gone, there is no need to replace the card or the jack, just use this instead.
As soon as you plug it in, it's installing his drivers automatically (Win Vista), and away you go.
YOU HAVE SOUND!
The only disturbing thing is that it has a blinking light built in, which you may find annoying sometimes.
Otherwise, the seller charges you for delivery as much as he charges for the item, so you may be better off buying it locally or ...

Bought this as I had downloaded an album in 24 Bit FLAC format from Bandcamp.com and my ancient PC only played back in 16 Bit. The card was recognised by Windows XP right away.
Connected it to a Project Headbox headphone amplifier. Selected the audio to use the USB adaptor in settings. Initially the sound was distorted and crackily. Turned down the volume output to about 90%. Better, with less distortion, but still heard crackles and pops.
Then connected it using a shielded USB extension cable I had lying about, moving it away from the PC. Much better, the crackles were gone, RF interference from PC or WiFi? Tried several different audio formats, which all worked perfectly. Being a bit of a Geek I looked up the spec of the VIA DAC chip used in it. That quoted the highest quality was 24 Bit 192 KHZ, not 96KHZ as quoted by Sweex.
Downloaded a 24 Bit 192KHZ classical music sample in FLAC format, it played back perfectly, with Foobar 2000 and Winamp, using USB 2. It sounded like a vinyl LP playing. Vocals were smoother and instruments had more life in them.
Overall terrific value for money. The sound does lack a little warmth and doesn't sound as good as my HiFi system and there is a little background noise, but then this was about a hundredth the price!
I noticed that the sound quality improved after playing a few tracks.
Recommended for someone wanting to try 24 Bit HD audio on their PC If their PC doesn't support 24 Bit already. Cannot recommend it highly enough for the value.

I bought this item with doubts in my mind as I class myself as being not technology savvy. However I have to be honest and say that the item delivers exactly what it says it will. I plugged it into the USB Port and it loaded the software required immediately and I was able to begin using it within 2 minutes of plugging it in. The sound from the speakers I plugged in is excellent, in fact I think better than when my laptop internal sound card was working. I would recomend this to others to at least try as it is not an expensive solution to when a laptop internal soundcard stops working.

This is probably my 5th sound card adapter that I bought for my laptop (after headphones 3.5mm plug broke in the soundcard jack socket).

I have tried all the 'blue' cheep ones. They were keep breaking in moments when I had the laptop on my knees and touched them accidentally .

This Sweex USB adapter looks more robust and after 6 months using it every day ,it has proved itself

Totally Recommended ! Don't waste any time with the cheeper ones.

I bought this for my brother's laptop because his headphone socket went dodgy. His laptop is Windows 7 Professional. I plugged it in and Windows set it up immediately - I didn't have to install anything. When you plug it out, Windows reverts to the built in socket. Perfect, small and a great price.

I got this because I broke the headphone jack on my laptop. It works perfectly, no extra drivers needed, soon as you plug it in it over-rides you installed sound hardware immediately and starts pumping stereo out to your headphones, and soon as you pull it out it goes back to normal. Absolutely perfect for what I needed, best thing I got it for 10 quid delivered. just amazing.

Great product that's easy to install and use. The only thing preventing it from a 5 stars for me is that sound doesn't seem to be 100% accurate.

When work moved from PCs to Win Terminals I found myself having to listen to music online to very poor and slightly disorted. Almost like listening to the radio on LW (if you're old enought to remember) of some station half way across Europe.

Anawys - bought a cheap one - which didn;t work when I plugged it into the terminal - much to my frustations.

I took another gamble decided (based ont eh reviews) to give this one a go at £10(ish) - not sure I would of gambled at it current £20 price.

Anyway - plugged it intot he system - system recgonised it and now I have almost perfect sound and now can enjoy by data reporting working days with music from the web. The sound skips a bit sometimes when scrolling the screen - but that is probably mroe to do with the terminal than the USB sound card itself.

All in all a happy decision to buy.
