What Value, works like a dream - ok the compact flash port is a little shallow and the card does stick out a fair way, but unless you are an idiot who does not realise how to handle delicate memory cards & electronic equipment, there will be no problems with this - I have checked all ports and each card slides in very well (just make sure you have your card the right way up) and the extra USB port on the reader is a bonus too.
I should point out that this card reader does need the 9 pin (8used) USB connector on the motherboard, so check you have this facility before ordering, no instructions were in the box so if you don't know about the above, indeed you are a person who does not have any computer hardware knowledge then you may need help fitting the reader, but all in all it is extremely easy to fit as long as you know what you are doing. Other than that I have to give it a 5 star rating for value finish & fit all are excellent.

I recently purchased a new PC running Windows 7 64BIT. For some reason I did not specify an internal card reader. Thankfully this omission was easily solved with this superb card reader from Sweex. Here's how quick and easy it was to install: Remove side of PC case (15 seconds) Slide unit into place and tighten fixing screws (30 seconds) attach USB connector to USB header on motherboard (10 seconds) put side of case back on and secure (15 seconds). 70 seconds and all done. Switched on PC and the card reader virtually installed the required driver by the time windows had fully started. Probably the most productive 70 seconds of my life! An added bonus is that it works! No need to use the supplied CD-ROM driver disc. Cannot fault this product for the price. If I was to be nit picky I could comment on the fact that the front panel of the unit sits just a few millimeters behind the front of the PC case. This might be as much to do with the design of my particular case, which is a Xigmatek Asgard. A great product at a great price!

Well, my title says it all really. If you look at the photos you may find this exact same unit listed with different brand names for much more money. Look at it, the whole unit is encased in a metal housing. It could almost be used as an external device. Installation is simple, slotting into the now redundant floppy bay. A single cable to the internal USB header and you're done (check you have a USB header plug on your motherboard). No software needed and USB2 speeds are quick. It's great for camera cards and memory sticks.
When the unit is powered it has a red LED. On my machine even when the computer is shut down the led still illuminates (there is power to the USB). When in use there is also a green LED, this indicates that a card is inserted (it doesn't indicate read write). In "My computer" the unit does show up a six additional drives, which some may find annoying but this is typical of card readers. But what this means is that you can copy from one to another, e.g. pics from your cameras memory stick pro to an SD card for your digital photo frame.
Don't forget too the front USB slot. This is a great boost if your PC doesn't have front USB slots. It offers a great place for your pen drive.
All in all a useful little item with very surprising build quality.

Failed after first use - caused complete computer failure.

Sweex card reader
I didn't realise when I bought it, that you needed to open up your computer to connect it. I saw 'USB' in the details and I assumed I could just plug it into a USB socket. Read more

Just what I wanted
