Product Description

Product Description

Seth and Cecilia Sludge! Those slithering, snake-like spoilsports are always stealing the other children's sweets. That is until Stanley and Stacey Rope introduce them to The Sweets That Eat Children! It's sweet revenge, as the Sludges are no match for these giant horrors. Trouble is-tragically-nor is anyone else.

'Oh, be quiet, you beastly rabble!' bellowed Pop.
The children were suddenly silent and still. They looked up at the sweets warily.
'I haven't eaten yet,' said Pop. 'And I expect my dinner to behave!'
'Who-who-who is your d-dinner?' stammered Penelope Prawn.
Billy Brown could tell the answer to that question, just by looking at the wicked glint in Pop's eye. 'It's us, isn't it?' he said faintly.
'Yes, well observed, young man!' said Pop stolidly. 'Now-let the feast commence!'

About the Author

James Duncan specialises in children?s fiction, or ?fact?, as he likes to claim. Born in 1970, he grew up in Devon, England, where this story is set. He read English at university, and just sincerely hopes that children continue to eat sweets and never the other way around.

My nine year old granddaughter who is an avid reader read this on Boxing day and thoroughly enjoyed it. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 'Harry P' is 10, she awarded 7 points to Sweets that Eat Children.

I couldn't stop laughing! This was such a fun book to read, and it hasn't put me off sweets! The two baddies are Seth and Cecilia Sludge. They made me shiver, with their forked tongues and their hissing voices. The best bit is when the sweets come to life and grow to a huge size. Then they start eating children and teachers. It's more funny than scary. But all is not lost, and Stanley and Stacey Rope head off to Sweetland to rescue everybody. This book is both exciting and funny, and I'm already reading it again!
