Although not specified as such on the cover this budget priced release on the Spectrum Music label (a division of Universal) is a compilation of previously released tracks from Katherine's six album deal with Universal Classics. Compilations of course being the only way the label can continue to profit from her lucrative five year partnership with them since her decision to leave and continue her career with the Warner label.
Of the fourteen songs, five are from Premiere, one from Second Nature, one from Living a Dream, three from Serenade, two from Rejoice and one from Sacred Arias. The exception is a variation to the album version of Somewhere over the Rainbow - the one here is a live recording from a 2009 Friday Night is Music Night concert.
So this 2011 release offers nothing new to the Katherine Jenkins fan apart from a different version of Over the Rainbow, unless of course the four page biography reveals anything new about the singer which we don't know already, and not surprisingly it doesn't.
The appeal therefore is to those who don't own the back catalogue and simply want a Best Of Katherine songs. For this purpose Sweetest Love perfectly complements The Ultimate Collection which presents the later albums whereas this one leans towards the earlier years of her recording career.

I must disagree with Mart Music on two aspects.I have Katherine's back catalogue but am very happy to pay Amazon what is a bargain price for my copy of "Sweetest Love".The different version of "Over The Rainbow" alone makes it worthwhile.And in any case,I would hate my KJ collection to be incomplete!Incidentally,I have seen the album on sale at a leading high street retailer-and it costs much more there.Secondly,the album booklet contains a potted biography which,although it covers familiar ground to some,is neverthless well-written and does justice to Katherine and her appeal.(I hadn't seen the page 2 photo of her before.Wow!Think it should have been the album cover.)
I'm puzzled that UCJ/Spectrum Music released the album with such little publicity.Its compilation predecessor,"Ultimate Collection" was promoted widely and proved a big seller.I think "Sweetest Love" is a fine introduction to Katherine's beautiful voice and will be welcomed by long-term fans too.

A lovely cd especially for new comers to Katherine Jenkins but for those who have more of her cds be aware that there are many repeats. (I wondered why it was so cheap!) Would make a lovely present
