This is the first time I've ever read a Harlequin book. I've heard so many mixed reviews about many Harlequin books being sort of 'hit or miss', but it seems I lucked out when I picked up this one from the bookstore.
I finished this book in less than a day. I could not put it down. This book, which has a 'millionaire romance' kind of flair to it, was absolutely amazing, and the twist at the end made it even better.
The heroine, Nia King, is trying to do all she can to prevent a candy factory in her hometown from shutting down. The hero, Kyle Ellison, takes a trip to Candy, Ohio to see that the shutdown happens, but along the way, he's stranded in a snowstorm, and is rescued by Nia and taken to her late grandmother's house to ride out the storm. As you can imagine, sparks fly during the time the two of them are holed up in the house waiting for the blizzard to pass. She finds out what Kyle's reasons for coming to Candy was for and tries to convince him not to shut down the factory. Unfortunately Kyle's business decision is made, and as a result their relationship becomes a little rocky.
I won't reveal any more than that, because there's an interesting 'sweet' twist that ends this story in a happily ever after. I thought the twist wouldn't come until much earlier, but it surprised me when it came within the last two chapters of the book, which just made my heart swell.
The characters were all likable. Of course, I liked Kyle, but I even liked the heroine, Nia, which is really rare for me to like heroines in books.
I didn't realize that this was book 2 in the author's 'Temptation' series, and after reading the description of the first one, 'Taste for Temptation,' I will have to check it out. Book 1 follows the story of Adam and Brandi, who also make an appearance in 'Sweeter Temptation.' I will definitely be checking out that and future books by this author!
