Product Description

This book presents an evocative and atmospheric saga set in North-East England. Maddy Grant is a country girl, living high up on the fells above the small town of Sweet Wells in the Durham dales where her family has lived for hundreds of years. Unbeknown to her, Maddy's beloved home no longer belongs to the Grant family but was sold to Jonas Ward, who has good reason to hate her family. She finds out when her father dies, and Jonas evicts Maddy and her mother from the house. Her mother, Rose, is offered the job of running of a local shop by rich young man, Cuthbert Felix, who is secretly in love with Rose. But Maddy falls in love with Sep Ward, Jonas' nephew, the local solicitor's son. And when Sep asks her to marry her can she accept knowing how his uncle has treated them?
