Don't get me wrong: I love Sweet Charity. Even though the film is a little baggy in places, MacLaine and co are a joy, the music is magnificent and the orchestration quite exhilarating. Not that you'd know from this recording. It reminded me of when I was a kid and used to record Top of the Pops off the TV by holding my tape recorder in front of it. The quality of the sound is horrible, tinny and lacking real depth. Also, the pickings are very slim with only 40 mins of music (the film is 150 mins long and there is a lot of music in it!). In a way I'm grateful that this CD exists, but the meanness of the CD publisher is unforgivable.
