Product Description

Product Description

"Hey Budgie, do you want to travel around south-east Asia with me?"

"Sure!"

One word. Just one. Even saying "I do" when getting married gives you the chance of bailing out halfway through your answer. No second chances here though, I was well and truly up the creek. And never mind the paddle, boys, I didn't even have a canoe! Without knowing which countries we were going to (not that it would have made much difference), I was about to embark on five months worth of pain, misery, excitement, enjoyment, extreme cold, extreme heat, jungles, mountains, deserts, elephants and camels. And complaining. LOTS of complaining! A constant stream of whining, moaning and whinging, performed almost exclusively by myself, and all carefully documented within SWEAT. Still, that's what being an ambassador for the western world is all about. Isn't it?

Truly a 'once in a lifetime' experience!

About the Author

Born in Birmingham, England, fled the UK to work in San Francisco, USA. No plans for future travel writing due to this trip almost finishing him off completely. Hobbies include standing up and shouting ?I?ve been there? whenever a film or television programme with one of the exotic SWEAT locations is shown, just to annoy people!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Backpackers Bible, 21 Dec 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Sweat (Paperback)
This book is unique
A real honest account of what a 'western backpacker' can expect from a 5 month tour of the Far East
Not for the 'Faint Hearted' or 'Squeemish'
I needed a month off to recover from the read
Do not miss this opportunity for a genuine reality education
Eat your hearts out "I'm a Celebrity - Get me out of here"

This review is from: Sweat (Paperback)
This book makes you feel glad there's a British Empire... eh?... what do you mean it's gone and we're just a tiny insignificant island off the coast of America?!?!
