Product Description

Review

A quality reference style text with an excellent and diverse range of fabric swatches. With an underpinning of textile technology and in a format which explains fundamental fabric characteristics, the reference file book imparts all the necessary detail for students to learn the construction, analysis, properties and functionality of each swatch in one short descriptive summary . It is an essential text for any textile or fashion undergraduate who needs to understand the construction and properties of commercial fabric types; be it in their own design work, or with a view to a career in commercial design as a buyer or range developer . I am an undergraduate tutor who teaches this subject regularly and it is an excellent resource that can then be built upon by students to create their own archive file of commercial fabrics. I would recommend this book is produced for interior and technical textile swatches also. Highly recommended. -- Julie Brennan, University of Ulster Belfast, UK

Not what I expected 26 Dec 2013

I was questioning for a long time if i wanted to buy this book, from the wide range of reviews and lack of information found online about it. With the high price tag it was a matter of saving up and hoping it was good when it arrived. I was presently surprised by the quality it not just as a swatch book but also as a technical information book about textiles. Unlike other swatch books i have seen where the information about a fabric has to be personally added this book comes all ready to go. The book also provides information on fabric yarn and fibre creation as well as properties and performance. I am studying to be a textiles teacher and another great feature of the book is the activities at the end of each chapter. My only concern is the pages feel a bit thin and i know how rough i can be with binders, hopefully they won't rip. Overall great book, amazing resource, wide range of swatch samples. Its a great book for beginners and uses simple terminology but is also a great tool for the more experienced.

Fantastic reference book!!! 4 Aug 2013

This book is so much more complete and easy to use than others of its kind. It is the first one that includes the fabric facts. I keep it on my shelf for a ready reference and use it almost every day.

My find out on Swatch Reference Guide for Fashion fabrics, 2nd Ed 3 Oct 2013

this book has enhanced my ideas on fabric and i must confess i have not regretted buying this book.
The reason for my rating this book as i have is the educational material contents and the information they provide on them.
What i might want to be changed about this product is totally nothing but can add the numbers of swatch number right on the fabric to avoid the confusion of misplacement

so perhaps it is a bit unfair that I am reviewing this book. I can say with confidence that the swatches were of depressingly boring fabric. I can definitely say that with confidence.

MIssing Swatches 1 Feb 2014

This book had a lot of missing swatches when matched up with other classmates, and a lot of EXTRA selvage pieces that were not useful.
