Product Description

What is Alpha Lipoic Acid?

As a natural food product, Alpha Lipoic Acid can be sourced naturally, by eating the vegetables broccoli and spinach, and the animal products, liver and kidney. However, as for many people these foods are not high on the list of favourites, you can now take Alpha Lipoic Acid in easy to swallow capsules that won’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

The antioxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid is a valuable source of nutrition for the body, which has been popular with the health conscious for many years. Lipoic acid antioxidants are used in the body’s defence against free radicals, the molecules that can cause serious diseases that affect the heart and other areas of the body.

What is Alpha Lipoic Acid used for?

Alpha Lipoic Acid can be used to support a healthy body and to maintain all over health and wellbeing. Complimenting your diet with a daily dose of Alpha Lipoic Acid may help you to maintain:

  • Heart Health: Supporting a healthy cardiovascular system.
  • Energy: Promoting fit and energetic body cells.
  • Vitamin C + E: Supporting the conservation of other vitamins in the body.
  • Glucose + Carbohydrates: supporting the body to maintain glucose and carbohydrate processing.

This would probably be an excellent product for me if it didn't contain magnesium stearate and rice flour.

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the fact that the product contained these additives before purchasing it. I'll need to be more careful next time I order a new product.

Magnesium stearate is known to cause cell death, and should be avoided.

Rice flour is probably innocuous for most people but I suffer from interstitial cystitis, and all flour or grains provoke this ailment. I thought that perhaps there would be so little rice flour in the product that I wouldn't notice any irritation, but this was not the case, and I suffered a severe reaction.

This was a pity since alpha lipoic acid is a superantioxidant and would presumably have helped me greatly.

If anyone knows of an alpha lipoic acid product not containing rice flour or other flour, please let me know. I would be grateful.

Might work but.... 19 Mar 2012

I bought this after seeing it recommended in Tim Ferris' book "The Four hour body" but found that it irritated my stomach. To be fair he does mention this as a potential problem but I missed the caution the first time I read the book.
