I've purchased a similar DVR system with cameras manufactured by SWANN for nearly £400, but from the Maplin store. It stopped working just outside its 12mth warranty. Maplin wanted nothing to do with it and speaking to SWANN, they said it is likely to be a motherboard failure. However, SWANN does not offer any spare parts and so I'm stuck with a broken system that has had limited use. The point I'm making is unless you can get an extended warranty (which is also unlikely), do not purchase these type of products because they are most likely to fail as they intended to be switched-on 24/7.
exactly the same has happened to me, just out of warranty, pcb has packed in, left with 4 cameras which are no use now, should have known better, as this was 2nd swann product I've had, first one lasted 1 day, stopped working when I was testing it
