After ordering another external security system and spending a whole day back and forth with only email support I wanted a system with tech support manned by real people which Swann seemed to offer so after returning my other camera due to it being faulty I received this Swann system today and set about installing it
So there are a lot of wires but don't be tempted to start fixing everything into place without checking all the cameras work as I can't imagine how annoying it would be having to wind back up 72M of wiring!!! Anyway all was good and the cameras functioned as planned and I was impressed with the image quality as a prev reviewer suggested it wasn't that good? The night vision seems to work well too (I tried them in the loft and the quality was perfeclt adequate)
Now onto the tech support, I had everything up and running but the network setup and ability to view remotely through a mobile (iPhone and blackberry needed for me) I called them and after 28 minutes (was not rushed or fobbed off) everything was up and running, they had info to help with my router settings and talked me through port forwarding and firewall settings without any issues
The Apps on offer of which there are two, one is the Swann own version which just would not connect and the other is Asee available on both apple and Bb works perfectly and enable me to view all 4 cameras on wifi or 3G, only one concern is without a static IP which Sky do not offer with their broadband I will need to keep updating the Ip info so may need to look into a DDNS service which I believe does cost but the only option to avoid needing to keep updating the external ip info on the apps
All in all very happy with the product, need to spend tomorrow installing the cameras which should be fun!!!
