This product isn't great - it doesn't really seem to get hot enough, so you end up with either limp, non crispy toasties or you have to leave them in for so long that all of the cheese effectively melts and removes itself from your sandwich. It is OK for the odd toastie but if you need to do 'say' 4 it really just takes too long and gives a disappointing result. I have not tried it with panini bread so can't comment on that. We previously had a Kenwood model with a variable temperature control and I have to say it was much, much better than this one. I have been trying to buy another Kenwood and only bought this one because I couldn't find one. I will keep trying to find one and will give/throw this one away. :(
