5.0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST LADY OF ROCK'N ROLL 30 Jan 2003
Format:Audio CD
Finally original versions of SUZI QUATRO'S two first albums.
They contain Chinn, Chapman hits,Suzis own songs and also great
covers of the fifties.A must have, for everyone who liked seventies music, especially them who liked glam rock. The first
album is pure power rock`roll, the second album contains variety
of stiles: blues, rhythm and blues, ballads and rock`roll. In my
opinion the second album is even better because of it's exelent content.Listen to the superb version of 'Trouble',there
is even a little bit jazz in it. '48 Crash' was always our school discos highlights.Because I was teenager in seventies, Suzy Quatro remains for me, the first lady of rock'n roll.I love you
Suzy,Forever!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant first album + disappointing second 31 May 2010
Format:Audio CD
SUZI QUATRO *****
The 1973 debut album by one of rock's first women is an under-rated rock classic. With a sound that is a mixture of hard rock and boogie, it is an undeniably unique package.

Suzi Quatro's multitude of European, Japanese and Australian hit singles were all written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. '48 Crash', one of the biggest and hardest rocking of these appear here, along with a sexy pre-historic odyssey entitled `Primitive Love'. (The Australian release of this album is entitled 'Can the Can' and includes that smash hit rocker as well.) But the success of this album rides, not on the strength of that song-writing partnership, but on the writing of Quatro herself and soon-to-be husband, guitarist Len Tuckey ('Glycerine Queen', 'Shine My Machine', 'Skin Tight Skin' are definite highlights).

Quatro's vocals are strong and authoritative, while conveying just a glimpse of vulnerability. The trademark scream that made her famous is also in full flight. Chinn-Chapman's production is full and textured, driving the music with an awesome drum sound (Dave Neal), Quatro's slick bass, and Tuckey's guitar being rounded out by some beautiful keyboards from Alistair McKenzie.

Though this album has an overall sound and style that places it firmly in the rock of the pre-punk 70s, you would be hard pressed to find anything else that sounds quite like it, nor a rock debut that is as confident and energetic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good compilation but missing something. 8 May 2002
By J. Auer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is long overdue but I find it hard to believe that demand was so little for these two Glitter area records that they had to be realeased on one cd! The linear notes are not that great and it talks about resotred artwork - it's minimal. Also the set list on the albums is off. Maybe they are going by the UK releases on the US Bell releases the song order is off. For example on the debut album Can the Can isn't even on here! You've got to be kidding. On Quatro they replace the original album cut of The Wild One with the single version. Yes the single version is cool, but so is the album on which is now even harder to find than the single version which is the one that is used on all the SQ greatest hits cd's coming out now. Seems just a little off.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is where it all started for women in Rock 8 April 2001
By Scott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
These two albums especially the first one (Suzi Quatro) is where it all started, for women in rock. Suzi rely showed the men of the business, that women can rock too and did it as hard or even harder than most of them.

The first album has some great tracks like Glycerine Queen Official Suburbian Superman, and the smash Hit Single 48 Crash.

When Elvis Presley heard Suzi's version of all shook up, as it was released as a single in the USA, he was quoted as saying that it was the best version that he had heard and wanted to meet Suzi.

This Leather clad Rocker not only blasted open the cieling blew open the door, but she put women on the Rock n Roll map to Stay.

Although not big in her native country the US where she was born. Suzi managed to get world wide reckonision for her efforts with these two albums.

The second Quatro, had three hit singles from it The Wild One, Devil Gate Drive and Too Big. Suzi rely rocked the joint toured all over the world including the US and Canada, and became a house hold name in Europe, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia. Now to get these classic albums digitally remastered well that's a true Quatro fans delight.

Suzi Quatro is the first woman of Rock and roll and is still touring all over the world with her music, when she comes to town buy a ticket, Suzi puts on a show well worth seeing.

4.0 out of 5 stars for suzi lovers 26 Jun 2006
By MajicRay - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
My first concert back in about 74 was suzi quatro and alice cooper in downtown detroit. suzi came on first and damn near stole the show. She rocked from start to finish and live, her sound was much harder than came across on record. As for this cd, I got it and it is almost perfect except for the missing song" can the can" which I have on another cd luckily. The second cd I have read negative reviews on. I don't know what the reviewer was listening to but I thought it was almost as good as the first cd. Good old fashioned rock and roll influenced by chuck berry, little richard, and jerry lee lewis. Get this cd, it is well worth the money
