Amazon.co.uk Review

Renowned suspense writer and Edgar Award winner James Patterson, author of such bestsellers-turned- blockbuster-films as Along Came a Spider and as Kiss the Girls, exposes his sensitive side in his new novel, Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. Katie Wilkinson's boyfriend Matt dumps her but to show he's not a total cad, he leaves her a gift, a diary kept by Suzanne, his first wife, for their son Nicholas. Though it's not exactly the diamond ring Katie was hoping for, she's unable to make herself destroy the diary-- against her better judgment, Katie begins to read.

Drawn against her will into the other woman's world, Katie learns of doctor Suzanne's heart attack at age 35 and her decision to slow down, accomplished by a move to Martha's Vineyard and a new job as a simple country doctor. When love comes knocking, in the form of housepainter-cum-poet Matt Harrison, Suzanne is ready to listen to her newly repaired heart. Though painful for Katie, she begins to know and like Suzanne and her infant son Nicholas. Suzanne's devotion to Matt and their son shines through, as well as her plainspoken wisdom. While the journal helps Katie understand Matt, whether they can write a future together remains in question. --Alison Trinkle, Amazon.com --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Review

Not a crime thriller starring Alex Cross but a bittersweet and moving account of finding and losing love - and learning to love again.

Wow, i have read most of James Pattersons books and loved them but Suzannas Diary surpasses them all, i cried laughed and couldnt put it down. Being a new mum i think it hit home more so and I must say i think my son felt a little neglected the last two days, sorry Matthew! But after reading this book all i could do was cuddle him and tell him i loved him...It is a must read!!!!

Absolutely Brilliant! 31 Aug 2001
Format:Hardcover
I picked up this book in bed, intending to read a couple of chapters and two hours later I'd finished it! I just could'nt put the book down, I kept thinking I'll just read one more chapter, just one more..... and before I knew it, I'd read the lot in one go. I am an avid reader and it is a long time since I picked up a book that had me hooked until the end. It is a real tear jerker of a story with a twist at the end and definately requires a box of tissues. It really is the best book I have read in ages and I have recommended it to all my family and friends. Having read James Pattersons 'Alex Cross' detective books, I bought this book because I like the author and did'nt really expect that much of it. I got a nice surprise. It is brilliant!

Astounding 18 Jan 2006

A truly wonderfully written book. Sad, funny, uplifting and shocking in its twists. I was left feeling desperately sad not only for the characters in the novel but for myself. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. At 40, I will never experience this depth of love and certainly never twice. Fortunate are those that do.

A diary that draws tears
My first James Patterson novel. This could so easily have been a trashy piece of weepy chick-lit. But No. Read more

A 13 year old could have written this book
I dont get it, I cant understand what the hell would make someone read this and decide to publish it. It was easy to read but if this is James Patterson, he is a horrible writer. Read more

Heart-breakingly beautiful
I love James Patterson, I love his thrillers, especially Alex Cross, so I was very sceptical about this book, as I really didn't think he'd be able to pull it off. Read more
