Suzanne Vega was one of the finest narrative voices of 80s and 90s contemporary music. But this collection of promotional videos adds nothing to the songs, and, quite often, is little better than a visual distraction. In some cases, such as Tom's Diner, the minimalism of the video production is in keeping with the minimalism of the song. In other cases, though, the style of the video is at odds with the song, or seems to reference an entirely different world.
Probably the exception to this is the 'In Liverpool', which brings more drama and storyline, and is beautifully, if a touch whimsically, shot.
Ultimately, though, I would only recommend this video if you are going for a complete collection of all Suzane Vega's works.
To me, the albums themselves are much more visual, with images that linger in my mind from the day I first heard them.
