Format: Paperback
This is the first book in a series about a female Customs Officer called DJ Smith and her "Sniffer" cat Gorgonzola.
They are sent to a small Scottish hotel to investigate a drugs ring and encounter some weird and wonderful characters and some preposterous but somehow hilariously believable situations.
I am not a great fan of silly slapstick but the authors have managed to keep the story very funny and yet strangely believable at the same time.
In tone, this book reminds me of the Agatha Raisin stories by MC Beaton and I would say that it was equally enjoyable.I already have the second book 'Under Suspicion' which I am looking forward to reading and I will be purchasing the third as soon as possible.
In short, this book is a hidden gem which I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Easy reading crime mystery story though slightly far-fetched with tounge in cheek cat character. Nevertheless an enjoyable book and good story line.

I think this is the first in the series although I had read some of the later ones first. I was interested in the Edinburgh (my home city)background, although I found from reading the first book that the main character is not actually Scottish. They are quite entertaining but the books are really all quite similar so I don't think I'll be reading any more of them. I didn't particular warm to Deborah (I think that's her name), and I think it would be good to know a bit more about her private life - she presumably has some family somewhere!

Started this book some time ago and have been trying to finish it. It's not exactly a page turner and I find the attempts at what I think is supposed to be dry wit a wee bit contrived and not all that funny. I will finish it, promise. Just not anytime soon...
