One listen to the eagerly anticipated third album from "The World's Biggest Girl Group" and it's clear there is one child with the most destiny. To paraphrase the hip-hop legends; who's house? Beyoncé's house, and with the lead vocalist producing or cowriting all of the 14 tracks it's hard to imagine what those other two chicks even do (other than act grateful to still have a gig). Seizing creative control is a bold move for Miss Knowles, and anytime an R&B act eschews the beat of the week, they have to be commended. But the problem is that Beyoncé, even with her ambition, has yet to suss out that the key to a pop-R&B smash is hook and melody. With the exception of the now-played-out title track (Can we all take moratorium on this mighty goddess theme for a second, please?) and the equally you-go-girlish "Independent Woman Part 1", most of the tracks here lack a strong core. Beyoncé crams a litany of thoughts and motifs into her mini-anthems, with samples ranging from Stevie Nicks to Tarzan Boy, but though the cuts sizzle and sparkle and throw off much attitude, Survivor is way too frenetic. Even with some strong singing and songs (most notably the laid back "Fancy"), Survivor lacks real emotion. --Amy Linden

Gone are the men-hating days of "The writings on the wall" album. DC have returned with one of my favourite albums of all time. I bought this CD nearly 2 months ago, the day it was released and i have found myself listening to it every single day since. The album covers a wide range of topics: Partyin' (Bootylicious, Sexy Daddy & Dance With Me). Bitchin' (Survivor, Nasty Girl & Fancy). Lovin' life (Happy face) but it also touches the topic of abuse (The Story Of Beauty). This album also includes 4 of the best love songs ever written in my opinion. The BeeGees cover "Emotion" is a grower but eventually i realised its a really nice song. Beyoncés solo effort "My Heart Still Beats" is a gentle song which is really nice to chill out to with your boyfriend/girlfriend. "Brown Eyes" is the most instantly catchy ballad, the verses are really nice. "Dangerously In Love" has the most beautiful lyrics i've ever heard. Overall, this album will not dissapoint any R&B fan or pop fan alike. Every one of the 18 tracks are classics. Pure brilliant! DC are better than they have ever been before. Keep it up girls!

"Survivor" is definitely Destiny's child's best album. This multi-platinum album features some of the best examples of R&B, dance floor, gospel, dance mix, and pop music-all in this one album. Every song is great in it's own way. The album starts with the fantastic R&B track "Independent women" which was sung for the Charlie's angels movie in late 2000. The track was a great new act that followed the success of "say my name". This award-winning soundtrack is for all "Jumpin Jumpin" and "I'm real remix" fans. The next track is the title theme survivor. A mixture of pop and R&B, this track has a smooth base rhythm that you soon get used to liking. Then of coarse the next track is one of the main reasons you should buy this album. "Bootylicious" is the fun, very catchy, rhythmic R&B-pop- and dance mix single. The single's continuous beat and catchy tune is lovable.

Other songs in the album that remind me of "bootylicious" are "happy face" and "sexy daddy". "sexy daddy" is another catchy single in the album. Their latest video is the "Nasty Girl" track, a song that sounds a lot like "Independent women II". It's another silly, dance floor, fun mixed track. Following that is the classical-soul mix sounds of "Fancy". "Fancy" reminds me of "Emotions". Destiny's child's remixed version of "Emotions" is far better than the older version. This soft R&B track is yet another top ten billboard single(like every Destiny's child single since "say my name"). Getting back to the dance floor singles, "apple pie..." is another catchy single. Though a few tracks are not that good, the really good tracks really make this an album to own. From the R&B hip hop tracks to the soul rhythm singles; from the pop catchy tunes to the gospel-dance floor tracks, this is an ideal album to own. I truly love it and don't mind listening to every single song in the album.

I'm an r'n'b fan- or least I used to be, before I cottoned onto the fact that most artists use their strongest track to capitalise on an album full of bland, poorly-written, unimaginative ballads.

I'm afraid I wasn't expecting anything different from DC and held off buying this album until it was reduced to bargain basement price. The only reason for my purchase was that I enjoyed 'Emotion' so much, and by the time I bought the album, it was better value than buying a CD single of just one track.

I drove to work this morning listening to the CD for the first time, and am amazed to say that I didn't skip one single track. In fact, the only time my finger touched the forward/ back buttons was to repeat Apple Pie a la Mode and Emotion. Simply put, this is a corker of an album. And what's more I'm afraid I totally disagree with the Amazon reviewer's lukewarm review. There are no real downtempo tracks until the latter third of the album and even these are beautifully written and performed.

It's glitzy, fiesty, sexy girlie r'n'b at its best, and far superior to anything DC have done of late. Anyone who enjoys Beyonce's solo stuff- with perhaps the exception of the inane and pointless 'Check On It'- should buy this album now. It's also a good introduction to r'n'b for anyone looking to get started with their collection. Surprisingly excellent.
