This album is dangerously cool,
By A Customer
This review is from: Survivor (Audio CD)
Gone are the men-hating days of "The writings on the wall" album. DC have returned with one of my favourite albums of all time. I bought this CD nearly 2 months ago, the day it was released and i have found myself listening to it every single day since. The album covers a wide range of topics: Partyin' (Bootylicious, Sexy Daddy & Dance With Me). Bitchin' (Survivor, Nasty Girl & Fancy). Lovin' life (Happy face) but it also touches the topic of abuse (The Story Of Beauty). This album also includes 4 of the best love songs ever written in my opinion. The BeeGees cover "Emotion" is a grower but eventually i realised its a really nice song. Beyoncés solo effort "My Heart Still Beats" is a gentle song which is really nice to chill out to with your boyfriend/girlfriend. "Brown Eyes" is the most instantly catchy ballad, the verses are really nice. "Dangerously In Love" has the most beautiful lyrics i've ever heard. Overall, this album will not dissapoint any R&B fan or pop fan alike. Every one of the 18 tracks are classics. Pure brilliant! DC are better than they have ever been before. Keep it up girls!

An unexpected gem.,

I'm an r'n'b fan- or least I used to be, before I cottoned onto the fact that most artists use their strongest track to capitalise on an album full of bland, poorly-written, unimaginative ballads.I'm afraid I wasn't expecting anything different from DC and held off buying this album until it was reduced to bargain basement price. The only reason for my purchase was that I enjoyed 'Emotion' so much, and by the time I bought the album, it was better value than buying a CD single of just one track. I drove to work this morning listening to the CD for the first time, and am amazed to say that I didn't skip one single track. In fact, the only time my finger touched the forward/ back buttons was to repeat Apple Pie a la Mode and Emotion. Simply put, this is a corker of an album. And what's more I'm afraid I totally disagree with the Amazon reviewer's lukewarm review. There are no real downtempo tracks until the latter third of the album and even these are beautifully written and performed. It's glitzy, fiesty, sexy girlie r'n'b at its best, and far superior to anything DC have done of late. Anyone who enjoys Beyonce's solo stuff- with perhaps the exception of the inane and pointless 'Check On It'- should buy this album now. It's also a good introduction to r'n'b for anyone looking to get started with their collection. Surprisingly excellent.

So Good,
By Wild Honey (Midlands, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Survivor (Audio CD)
I am afraid i just had to use a song from their second album to describe this, their third! Although it probably seems impossible to them and their public, Destiny's Child have managed to follow up huge hit "The Writing's On The Wall" with an 'almost as good' record which will fly off the shelves. It holds all that it needs to: upbeat girly anthems, heart wrenching ballad s(always at the end!) and the all too familiar gospel medely, which is part of any DC record. However, it lacks the all round brilliance of "The Writing's. . .", and i just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it is because simply every track on that was perfect, a lovely slice of smooth r'n'b, and because "Survivor" has it's let downs. Parts of it just don't fit! However, it is a brilliant album to listen to, with great ballads and absoulutely loads of songs, buy it, after all i did give it 5 stars!
