Synopsis:
The outbreak began in New York. Within days it had spread throughout the world. Nowhere is safe from the undead.

Britain is under quarantine. Curfews, rationing and martial law have been implemented, but it’s not enough. An evacuation of all the indefensible inland regions has been planned. The entire population will be relocated to enclaves being established around the coast. To get there, they will have to walk.

For George Tull, Mary O’Leary and the other residents of the Waverly-Price Retirement Home, walking to the coast is not an option. They wait for rescue, but when it becomes clear that they have been abandoned, George is left with a terrible choice; stay and fight to save the people he loathes, or leave and abandon the woman he has come to love.

More About the Author

'Work. Rest. Repeat.' is a post-apocalyptic detective novel set in a world where humanity has been so focused on its own survival, there has been no serious crime for generations; where space is at such a premium that 'homes' have to be shared; where the election, the murder and the fate of this last remnant of humanity are interlinked.

Surviving The Evacuation is a collection of post-apocalyptic novels and short stories set in the immediate aftermath of a global outbreak. Nations have fallen. Societies have collapsed. Those who are left struggle for survival, in a world where zombies are not the only thing to be feared. Undead Britain, a new stand-alone short story set in the Evacuation universe is now available as part of the 'At Hell's Gate' anthology. The series will continue with new characters in Book 4: Unsafe Haven, due out later this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is the best series of zombie books. 4 Sep 2014

simply one if the best zombie novella on amazon!
I Have read allot of zombie fiction, and mostly I get exited when I have READ SOMETHING MEDIOCRE, WELL THIS JUST RAISED THE BAR!
quite simply, if you want to read the best zombie fiction around, this entire series is it. this particular story is different in its actual writing style to the other books which are more of a first hand diary of events, this is much more a straight narrative and in my opinion exceptionally well done. at first I was put off reading this (even after reading all three of the other books) as the description of the main characters and story arc didn't interest me, being about a retirement home, for some strange reason I thought this would mean the author would offer a boring narrative about the people most likely left behind in this world, well I'm quite happy to say I was wrong.
this series is hands down the best out there! I have trudged through an unbelievable amount of absolute crap within this genre and before coming across this series I had pretty much given up.
this is a great and fresh twist on the genre and is really well written with realistic characters and a really good balance of action AND consequence. I'm just upset that there isn't more as I've had delve back in to the mud of zombie books to try and find something to compensate as I wait for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead good 12 May 2014
By Janey
Format:Kindle Edition
I had decided I wouldn't buy any more self published e books because - not to put too fine a point on it - I was tired of wading through badly punctuated, badly plotted drivel. But this was recommended and luckily did not realise it WAS self published until I was trying to find the second in the series. It has everything you need for a post apocalyptic world: scary zombies (growling, decaying, devouring), a slightly hapless protagonist who adapts to his new world and becomes steadily more likeable, abandoned cityscapes, Machiavellian political plotting. The diary format is engaging and well used to make the story scarily convincing and there is an impressive sense of building menace. The second book reveals more of the twisted political background behind the zombie infection and introduces new characters and I will be buying the final one as soon as it is out. Thoroughly recommended as a page turner.

It's great to read a story with a hero near my own age rather than a youngster.
There's plenty of action here. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read.
