Product Description

Product Description

My intent in writing this guide is to give others, like you, the benefit of my own experience and to make sure that the pain is not compounded by uncertainty, unawareness, ignorance or lack of information. Yes, this is a tragic event, one that none of us would wish on our worst enemies. Yet, if anything can help make it a little better, it is the certainty of knowing exactly what we are going through, the knowledge of what to expect and the tools to teach us how to cope.

For those who have suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage, Surviving Miscarriage helps you find the compassionate support you so desperately need. Florida psychologist Stacey McLaughlin survived two miscarriages in one year--and thankfully discovered the powerful secret to lasting inner healing.

McLaughlin addresses the variety of emotions a woman experiences after a miscarriage and focuses on how to mend your soul. With her unique and simple thirty-day plan, you'll be gently guided through meaningful steps to help you banish undeserved shame, embrace comforting emotional recovery, and move forward with confident hope for your future.

About the Author

Stacey J. McLaughlin, PhD is a licensed psychologist practicing in Central Florida. She is married to her husband, Chris, and they have one child. She is also the author of Coping With ADD/ADHD: A Psychologist?s Perspective from First Hand Experience.

This book promises much but fails to deliver. The whole ethos seems to be that you can "get over" your miscarriage within 30 days as long as you buy this book and follow the exercises in it. My concern, as a support contact of 14 years experience for the UK's miscarriage support charity, is that it creates the illusion that losing a baby can be resolved so quickly. My own reality, having been through losing babies in pregnancy, is that losing a child is a life-long loss, something that you learn to live with - like you have to with any other type of loss - but there are things you can do which can help you along your journey.

Ultimately, this book feels supercifical and lacks a longer-term perspective.

This book is mainly to help women who have had a pregnancy resulting in the loss their baby at an early stage. It contains a 30 day post-miscarrige help guide that takes you through the physical and psychological difficulties associated with having had a recent miscarriage.
It is, however, very American and whilst the information is helpful, it does not go into enough detail for those still struggling with miscarriage after the first month or those who have lost a baby after the first trimester of pregnancy.

This by far was THE best self help book I have ever read. I received this book on Friday 9/16 and finished reading it today 9/18. This book has taught me how to deal with this devestating issue. Even if you have suffered a miscarriage years ago or if your are a spouse, significant other, parent, or friend who wants to know how to deal with this issue please purchase this book. It has honestly changed my life, the author is brillant and she writes the book so honestly that you never feel alone with your feelings. I assure you upon reading this book you have a new understanding of your feelings.

This book helped me satisfy my need for information 5 April 2007

After dealing with infertility and than a miscarriage at 14 weeks, I needed answers. This book did give me the answers I needed (because there are none), but it helped me to realize that I am not the only one who feels this way. It was written in simple terms, so it was easy to read. I actually finished it in a couple of hours.

An Excellant Book 31 May 2006
By Shari - Published on Amazon.com
I wish I had bought this book after I suffered my first miscarriage. I have read several miscarriage books and this one is by far the best. Its easy to read, it touches on all the emotions you experience with a miscarriage, and I highly recommend it for anyone who has suffered a miscarriage or knows someone who has suffered a miscarriage.
