It was interesting to read the details of another person going through menopause. This short story is well written and easy to read but could be scary to a younger person. Don't be frightened, everyone is different, it is not like that for everyone. Like the author, I had an early on-set of menopause. I had no black moods, tiredness or depression. Hot flushes decreased rather than increased within several months time. They were unpleasant and caused difficulty sleeping through the night, but I began running fans everywhere I was and that decreased the unpleasant feelings to tolerable level. I am pleased to say that I was able to get through it without hormone treatments. I was happy to see that the author has a warning about the use of hormones which the doctors attributed as the cause of her breast cancer later in life.
I am not diminishing the difficulty of those who have harder time, I just wanted to comment to my younger sisters that everyone is different and it does not have to be horrible for each of you.
The author ends on a positive note that she made it through it and so will you.
This is not the topic that people often discuss with each other, and knowing more is always better, so I recommend this book.
