I first read this book 17 years ago when I was going thru a very painful divorce; it taught me how to nurture and care for myself during that process and I have since given a hundred copies away to others to assist them on their journeys of self-discovery in their lives. This book and it's 3 capable and talented authors offer hundreds of practical suggestions to alleviate suffering and apply some emotional salve to wounded feelings and attitudes. I even learned basic nutrition and some key health concepts from this small, easy to read book. I especially like the simple prose and unpretentious, straigh-forward way the help is presented to you. In keeping with the subject matter, the info is presented in small chunks, often humor or great insight into this common human experience we call Life. I love the poem about being too sad to go to Church; could God make a housecall that day? Buy it; read it; apply it; then email me and tell me I was right. Shalom.

Trust me, I've read them all and this is the only one that I connected with.

There is no consolation for the loss of love, but this book is sensitive and insightful in helping you understand what's happened to turn your life upside down. It also contains lots of beautiful expressions (in poetry) of the pain and hurt you're feeling, which helps because you know you're not alone in going through these awful things, and that you have a right to feel whatever you're feeling. I find that as much consolation as listening to a beautiful song or taking a tricyclic.

Never able to hold on to a copy for more than a few weeks, I am so very glad to know this book does not have to be found in used book stores any longer. Whether you missed an important phone call, lost the love of your life, or anything in between, this book is for you and those you love. The reader can identify with the stages of grief in simple terms, which is exactly what a person experiencing grief needs. Simple understanding.
I can't wait to read it again, this time, because my brother passed away. Then, I can share with all those who loved him, too.
