I nearly began by saying that this book should be on the shelf of every Christian. Rather, every Bible-believer should own and read this book. Be warned, though: to truly benefit from this marvellous book will demand some work and effort.
Hendriksen gives basic background on Bible history. He outlines the history of the periods of the Bible - and gives streamlined dates for memorisation.
For each book of the Bible he gives an theme and a memorisable outline, as well as a brief introduction to what the book is about. Old Testament books are tackled in the order in which they appear in Hebrew beacuase this is much closer to the chronology.
Hendriksen is adamant that every child of God should not only know the order of the books of the Bible, but should also know what each book is about, and know its outline.
If you don't yet know the theme and content of every Bible book, or if you don't know how the whole Bible hangs together, you now have no excuse! The more work you put into this book - and reading the Bible with its help - the more you will benefit!
