Product Description

Product Description

A standard textbook for 25 years, "Surgical Exposures in Orthopaedics: The Anatomic Approach" is now in its fourth edition. Featuring 775 full-color illustrations, this atlas demonstrates the surgical approaches used in orthopedics and provides a surgeon's-eye view of the relevant anatomy. Each chapter details the techniques and pitfalls of a surgical approach, gives a clear preview of anatomic landmarks and incisions, and highlights potential dangers of superficial and deep dissection. The fourth edition describes new minimally invasive approaches to the spine, proximal humerus, humeral shaft, distal femur, proximal tibia, and distal tibia. Other highlights include new external fixation approaches for many regions and surgical approaches to the os calcis. New illustrations of the appendicular skeleton are included. New drawings show the important neurovascular structures that need to be protected.

It has excellent diagrams and simple descriptions on exporsures to bones and joints in the body. Can use as a qiuck refference while the patient is prepared in theatre. However it needs to be up dated on certain areas and also it's too costly. Nevertherless ideal for a trainee to keep as a quick guide.

Orthopaedic surgeon? If yes then you need this book, simple as that. No better single resource for planning your approaches and understanding what's going on early in your career. Even senior surgeons and established consultants keep a copy close as a reference guide.

You won't regret your purchase.

What to say. You probably already know this book. Any department worth its salt has a version of this one lying about. And for good reason. The OR has called. You want to review the anatomy in the 30 seconds you have available.who you gonna call? But it's more than just your surgical anatomy lifeline. There's enough meat in the clear dissections to keep you entertained in case you have a spare hour to read up on a case you're going to have. It come's highly recommended as a reference work for operative anatomy and I would probably guess it to be especially relevant for residents at any stage of training.
This is your book. Come on. Spoil yourself. You want it..
